The Rose and Crown pub/bar is a great spot. Their rooftop has some of the best views but not sure if it's open in the winter. Still some cool vibes inside.

Little Rock isn't so far behind PB. There's something like 500+ abandoned houses in the downtown area south of 630 and southwest.

37-17
Dawgs come out sharp and focused after falling short last season. Beck is clearly in control of the offense, but we need a series or two to get loose. Defense owns the second half and special teams make a few plays.

Sounds like an episode of True Detective come to life.

Feel like a seven year alter would be some serious dedication.
But really, we allowed 3.8 yards/carry last season, which isn't the worst, but when an offense has a first down and runs it consecutively, now they're at 3rd and short the majority of the time. Tough to get off the field that way.
Then you get to redzone scoring where teams scored TDs on nearly 60% of redzone trips. And finally time of possession is pretty evenly split, with the Dawgs at 34, opposing team 26.
So not saying we were just god awful on D, but to answer the OPs question, I would feel great about our chances if that yards/rush would be closer to 2 to 2.5.

Last year the first and second level of the defense was not to the Kirby standard
This. We need to be much better against the run. Too many short to medium yards on 2nd and 3rd. If we can be top 5 against the run we should make a very deep run.

Nice. I was at Bunge in the MS Delta between Vicksburg, LP, Mayersville

I’m not sure how the locals would benefit. No guarantee jobs go to them
I ran multiple river grain terminals in Louisiana for years. We only hired from the local area. All 12-15 employees either lived in town or the next town over. These were full time jobs with benefits.
Explosions do occur but they're very rare and like a previous poster said, they only happen at the facility in the confined space. Elevators have been running since the 60s that have never had a fire or explosion. The tech today to prevent these accidents is very efficient.
The company had plans to support the local high school with scholarships and start a local health clinic. Not sure if they really would have followed through but now we'll never know.
And now without this export facility the company is going to have to sell the inland facilities in North Louisiana/Southern Arkansas that would've originated the grain for export. Essentially it will cease to exist.

It was a solid end to a mediocre season for sure. Lots of supe on supe fighting the last two episodes. Glad Ryan had to make a choice. They showed him enjoying demoralizing that director but never followed up on that. And that was enough to finally drive Butcher over the edge.
They finally pulled back from the social commentating to tell the damn story which was nice. I did chuckle when the Deep accepted responsibility for racism.
Seemed like the whole Frenchie story line was pointless and the Sage knew it would all work out reveal was a little cheap. But I was more entertained from these last two episodes than the rest of the season.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned the kids from GenZ doing Homelanders dirty work but thats an interesting crossover. I'm in for the last season.

Grew up on this show since the whole family liked it.
Bout 4 years ago did a serious rewatch that lasted 4-5 seasons.
The theme song is so good. One of the most memorable.
Idk if they were the first to do the long shot, no edit/cut but man it was awesome.
My wife is a nurse and whenever we talk about this show or her work I yell out the medical jargon like EKG, Chem7, etc like I'm in the ER

re: Trump has announced JD Vance as running mate

On one of Dave Smith's recent episodes of Part of the Problem podcast he showed a clip of Vance on CNN or MSNBC to show an example of how the media tries to corner people into some kind of passive submission. I thought Vance did a great job in that interview communicating his points and staying on topic and being collected and cool. Would have to dig that clip up but he seemed sharp and impressive.

This is also where I'm at with this show. Early on, the political and social commentary came with the world we were watching and was mostly clever. It didn't drive the plot which was The Boys going after Vought and the Supes. Now we have Starlights abortion and internment camps being plot devices while every conversation has to have some type of current event political dialogue thrown in. Its just not smart anymore.
Not to mention like most other posters I care nothing for Frenchies meltdown of guilt and MM's home and health problems. Just give me Butcher and the Boys going after supes while Homelander does crazy shite. I did think Simon Pegg did a great job in his last episode though.

Opening a Commercial Gym
Posted by Red12_Black4 on 6/20/24 at 3:33 pm
I'm taking a hard look at opening a gym in my area. Lifting weights/fitness is way more than a hobby and basically my entire lifestyle outside of my family and work. I see a need in my area so trying to take a shot at it. It would be small, mostly weight training/power lifting, nothing fancy.
Has anyone here opened or know someone that has opened a gym? More specifically, anyone know where or where not to purchase equipment in bulk online? Could be brand new shiny stuff or rusty used hack squats. This would be what the kids call the "side hustle" so not needing this to eat. Any and all recommendations are appreciated.

Last season may not have hit the highs as 1 or 2 but still had some insane moments. Ready to see Homelander and Butcher just go off the rails.
re: Who else here can’t stand going out to dinner anymore?
Posted by Red12_Black4 on 6/6/24 at 2:57 pm
We meal prep breakfast and lunch for the week and almost always cook dinner so by Friday we'll "treat" ourselves. Went to a run of the mill Mexican restaurant across the street last week. Just her and I with a 4 year old. 3 entrees w/ cheese dip, no alcohol, pushing $50 w/ tip.
Even a visit to Chick-fil-a on a Tball night will run over $30. Can't see how some people do it all the time.

When I played HS football we used to watch this pretty much every other week so still some nostalgia there as well and still a good movie on it's own like others have said. Definitely eye opening though.

Remember the Titans

didn't see a thread on it but obviously a classic. Watched it last weekend for the first time in probably 10 years and then the George of the Jungle thread got me thinking about it even more.
Such a great movie with great acting, story, setting, and soundtrack. Probably one of Denzels best roles and the whole cast does an excellent job.
I'm sure it's not 100% historically accurate but they handle the race issue about as well as they could. Maybe a little too much "white man angry" but still not preachy.
Got some great one liners too. Just a great flick all the way around.
