Kirby made one excellent move when he took the job and that was to hire a very experienced and talented offensive mind as his OC. If he lets Chaney go to Tennessee and promotes a recruiter to run Georgia's offense, he'll have undone everything he's accomplished and flipped the advantage in the SEC East. That would be the worst move Smart could possibly make IMO.

Not gonna happen. Y'all need to remember this one fact- Chaney as OC is implementing the exact philosophy that Kirby wants him to implement. Kirby is not an innovative, "modern" football mind. He wants his team to have one identity- physical. He wants to run the ball and stop the run. He is not going to run a spread offense at UGA. Any OC we bring in to replace Chaney will have the same marching orders from Kirby- run the ball and physically dominate the defense.

Our o is as modern as anyone. We run RPO, the depth we have at running back makes us look less innovative, but committing to run still works in the sec.

We do utilize spread concepts. It’s not innovative anymore anyway as spread-type offenses have been around. We don’t need innovation: we need effective schemes that utilize our talented players and they needed to be executed well.

Execution and the ability to make the appropriate in-game adjustments is what we need.

What if Fields knew that Cheney was gonna eat at Krystal? Think he may have stayed?

I don’t hate losing Chaney and I want to retain Coley. I would like to see a more innovative OC but, I mean, I guess it opens up another position for another offensive recruiter. I think Thomas Brown hasn’t been hired yet.

Thomas Brown strikes me as more of a McDonald's guy, who instantly crinkles his fingers into the french fries to get a mouthful before driving off breathing RUTHUTHUPHUTH as his mouth burns.

What's he going to coach? We already have a better RB coach than Thomas Brown and a better recruiter. I'd settle for a defensive coordinator at this point.

What if Fields knew Thomas Brown was being considered by this board? Think he would have stayed?

I mean we need a DC regardless

I’m just saying if we are going to hire someone it couldn’t hurt to bring him back. shite, Kirby was a RB coach before he became DC. Coley has been our TE and QB coach. Not completely crazy to think Brown could coach something other than RB. Not saying it’s a perfect hire but if we’re going with the “frick coach qualifications, let’s just croot” then we could do worse than a good ole DGD.

Read all of JD's post. The only thing that was confirmed was Chaney's appetite for tasty little sacks full of burgers and fries.

Fields would have fought him like Pruitt so it’s probably why he left

He wasn't interested in "What can Brown do for you?" He's a Fed Ex guy all the way.
