I don’t care about a fullback, I just want to see us run a play that doesn’t involve a between the tackles run or a throw toward either sideline.

That’s our entire offense, btw. Kirby can claim different at this point but facts are facts and my hope is behind closed doors he is as pissed as I am about it. Fullback or not, we are the easiest offense in the SEC to defend because we only do 2 things. Schotty is Coley, Coley is Schotty, Fromm throws like Lambert. What fricking year is it??

exactly, the FB is irrelevant. We just need to do something more creative to make the defense at least think a little, which right now we dont' do at all.

Oh I agree, the issues run much deeper than a lack of a FB. It's hard to understand the thought process of running into the middle every fricking time.

I just don't understand why we continuously ran directly at their interior line, objectively the biggest strength of that South Carolina team.

Not only is it unimaginative, it's insane.

I don't think any of us here is some football genius who have seen the obvious, yet our well-paid OC can't. There has to be a reason for what they are doing. But what is it?

I guess it's that "manball" shite people are talking about: just keep "wearing them down."

Good football requires brain power and muscle power but the brain power is what separates the greats from the others.

I like what Swift said referring to Coley. Not saying its how I feel about Coley, just throwing it out...

quote:

“I think he’s done a good job. You can’t put it on him. What he calls doesn’t matter, as long as we execute and get the job done, it shouldn’t matter,” Swift said. “So, you definitely shouldn’t put it on Coach Coley at all. He’s done a great job.” Swift said he and other offensive players speak to Coley every week in practice to get an idea what he typically has in mind, as far as the upcoming game is concerned. “We ask him (Coley) about what sort of things he’s thinking of doing,” Swift said. “It looks good in practice. But we’re really not playing defenders or an opponent in practice, so you can’t really get that type of look.”

I like that a player isn't publicly calling out his coach, but I don't agree with this. Richt used to say the same thing every year, that any play in the world you call can work if all 11 guys execute like they're supposed to. I understand that line of thinking, but the problem is that you absolutely most certainly CAN put yourself in better position by calling appropriate plays. On saturday we ran nothing but up the middle and threw nothing but deep go routes down the sideline. At some point you've got to realize that aint working and do something else.

Any reporter that asks a question like that should be ignored, and called out for asking that question.

So questions about what the hell is the problem with the offense shouldn't be asked?

You're not thinking tactically, dude. If we keep doing it down after down, play after play, sooner or later we're going to catch them by surprise because they'll eventually start to suspect that we'll do something else.

Left unsaid is what happens if the other 11 guys all execute like they're supposed to. Irresistible force, meet immovable object.

If he wants to play manball, he needs to totally commit to it. I mean to beat an opponents defense into submission. Need multiple double teams playside with either a FB or a TE off the line and in short motion leading into the off tackle area. If you want to play power football just do it. This single back shite into the middle is a dumb way to try to play manball. Overload at point of attack and destroy.

It's not a video game.

You can't just wait for the defense to line up in a 4-3 with two deep safeties, then put 8 linemen up against them. That's not how it works. The more people you stack on the line, the more people they stack on the line.

"Multiple double teams playside" - so we get to have 14 players on the field while the defense only gets 11?That's brilliant! Draw that shite up and email it to McGarity.

Of course they can be asked. But if the question is asked in a way that is inappropriate then the best way to respond is to ignore the question. I don't know what question was asked but I'm sure by ignoring it, Kirby was telling the reporter it was inappropriate.

I'd just like to add a bit of objectivity to the offense ceiling. I want a young innovative OC like the next guy no doubt.

But the receivers haven't developed as advertised. Landers is still more basketball than football player. Simmons has possibly gotten worse in 4 years when he was already avg. at best.

There are only 5 receivers you should count on to actually produce consistently right now. One is going to be out several weeks and the other is just coming back from being out several weeks. Three of which are freshmen so the wr corps needs alot more depth and talent to be on par with Bama and LSU.

Sad to say, but Hardman, Ridley, and Holloman leaving earlier than expected fricked up this current unit. Just one of these dudes would have helped immensely, Hardman being the burner to compliment the offense.

Tongue and Blount could get more snaps, but how more effective will they be than Simmons and Landers tho. Some leakage coming from the OL too with Cade Mays and Trey Hill at center. He has thighs like ham hocks where it affects his general mobility. They should give Ericson some snaps just in case Hill gets injured and a series or two to see where he's at.

Long winded post but imagine adding one of the talented TEs from next year's class and a guy like Rosemy to the existing roster. Then again, Fromm is probably outta here in a few months...

LOL! The fact that you think you need 14 players to have multiple DTs at point of attack tells me that you don’t have a very strong offensive mindset. If you can’t understand the concept of over powering at the POA than it would do no good to even try to teach you how it’s done. But an abbreviated version is using backs, slots, TEs in a slot position, etc. out of multiple formations and with multiple versions of in motion to overload the POA. And you can do this with only 5 in the box. LOL at “8 lineman up against them.” Stick to just watching kid.
