Wow, my dislike of our fight song has really spurred this thread forward

Yeah, I don't think your opinion is all that unpopular. Our fight-song sucks. Our in-game experience is really very marginal compared to a lot of other places.

Sanford stadium is pretty tame compared to other big time SEC schools

He definitely did a lot of good. But equally, I think he did a lot of bad.

Not nearly good enough when we are fighting to get the NC.

The Grill is Athens’ best, most authentic restaurant. Everything else is full of pose.

Erk shot UGA down when Dooley retired and the girls in Statesboro are hotter.

There’s only one restaurant worth being called The Varsity. It’s on the corner of North Avenue and Spring Street in Atlanta.

Tech belongs in the SEC.

ETA some observations about the SEC and college sports in general:

ESPN’s Saturday night games in the late 1990’s with Ron Franklin, Jerry Punch, and Adrian Karsten were the pinnacle of SEC football.

Auburn has done more with less than any school in the SEC. Their fans are a 40/60 mix of the best people in the world and north Atlanta, one-upper, insecure justification kids who left Alpharetta in a Civic and came home In a Z71 with an Old Row sticker. Ditto Clemson. UGA should be fricking ASHAMED at both’s successes.

Gary is smarter and knows more about football than 99% of SEC viewers.

LSU fans aren’t that far off about the conference being in Birmingham.

Missouri brings less than nothing to the SEC and killing regional rivalries and regional conferences will kill college sports. I like ATM and Arky and they fit in fine. But they need to be in a conference with Texas, Rice, TTU, SMU, Baylor, and Houston. Ditto all other conference changes.

College football, as we’ve known it, has less than 20 years left to exist.

Justin Fields is a bust and I don’t wish him the best.

If we don’t win a natty this year or the next then I will begin being highly critical.

David Pollack doesn’t know how to dress himself (is this unpopular?)

That one song wasn't good.

What makes a song “good” or “bad”?

I bet if you went to YouTube or Spotify, it probably has hundreds of millions of views and listens.

Which according to the snob world that Michael Stipe created means that it’s bad somehow because too many simpletons get joy from it.....and for something to be good it must only be liked by the “right” kind of person. Of which there is only a small handful of beautiful tortured snowflake hipsters that can ever “get it” properly apparently

What the frick ever. That shite is so comical. I hate that Love Shack song with a passion, but it’s clearly a very very good song. I bet none of them have to work just on the royalty payments from that one song alone

It’s not the song everyone thinks it is, either.

Love Shack is a FUN song...not a good one.

Deadbeat Club is their lone “good” song.

The song Candy that Kate did with Iggy Pop is actually my favorite song involving a B-52’s member.

2019 is our last "best chance" for at least 3-5 years to win the CFPNC. I think Fromm leaves so we gotta start over at QB and not impressed with the current crop.

Love the trumpet solo pregame, gives me chills but as much as I love Larry, (Have several cassette tapes of Munsons greatest calls and Clisby Clarke Dawg songs from the 80's that I still listen to ) but the pregame montage has grown stale, gets little reaction and needs to be retired.

Love Krypton and the phones between the 3rd and 4th quarters... but unless it's a huge close rival game the spell GEORGIA cheer to end the bands halftime performance is usually embarrassing and lame AF...

As a season tix holder for 41 years these are my unpopular opinions...

ETA...downvote away...

Planet Claire and Rock Lobster are both great songs off the first album. That whole album is actually pretty good for the most part, and it was certainly a unique sound for 1979.

You realize transfers are a big thing now, right?

If Fromm leaves, you don't think there are going to be a number of talented but disgruntled QBs wanting to play for the most talented OL in the country?

UGA isn’t going to win a national title by being better than everyone else but by being consistently in the conversation for long enough that we get lucky one year.

A prolonged streak of dominance a la Clemson or Alabama is not going to happen. More like Bob Stoops Oklahoma wherein we win one to exorcise the demon and are highly competitive the rest of the time

I didnt know we could do more than one so...

-the Spike Squad is dorky, and its an unoriginal ripoff of the NFL raiders dorky adults-in-costumes thing. All of which is embarrassing

-Kirby has taken a lot of the fun out of following the program w/ all his Sick Naban rules and policies and media bans for coordinators, players etc etc

-TWLOCP is overrated and Im glad it’s switching to Home and Home in 2022

-I like Kirby’s decision to call the fake punt in the SECcg, and it was Blankenship that cost us the championship and playoff birth

-the regional aspect of college football is what makes it great, and therefore Georgia fans that have never even lived in the state are inferior to actual Georgians. As are people from out of state that went to uga then moved back out of state.

I’ll dovetail a possibly unpopular opinion off this.

The regional aspect of college football is quickly becoming a dated concept. More and more of UGA’s players (and students) will come from all over the country, and the dominant programs will be the ones who can effectively sell their brand nationally.

So what’s your take on die hard Georgia fans who’ve lived their whole life here but never attended UGA?

Baba O’Reilly is a stupid song, has nothing to do with UGA, and I hate listening to it before kickoff.
