Pickens taking his talents elsewhere

George Pickens is expected to publicly declare himself eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft, according to a league source.

Figured so, but it’s from Mike Griffith so there’s a good chance it’s 100% wrong

I think it is a huge mistake for him. Stay, get nil money, imporve his speed and stamina and ball out, then go round 1.

Not sure where he goes in this draft as he is a risk, my guess is day two.

NFL money > NIL money.

The way the nfl is structured now your first contract is hugely different based on where you are drafted. If you go third or fourth round vs first, you lose an arse load of money.

He could get close high 6 to 7 fugures in nil and insure he goes in round one by staying and come out way ahead money wise.

Well, going to the Draft. "Taking his talents elsewhere" makes it sound like he's entering the portal.

I'm gonna guess the injuries to Meechie,Williams and himself perhaps played a part.

But it is somewhat strange to do this right after his NIL deal with Tom Brady.

Why on earth would anybody think he goes in the portal

They wouldn't, but the wording of OP was clunky

Wasn’t Griffith the guy that was on sports talk in Nashville bashing Stet and Kirby? Maybe was an article

Griffith has been pretty full of himself. Ok to make a living off the teams but don’t make it about you.

I understand the injury concerns but unless he has a great combine and pro day, you'd think he'd have better draft prospects by playing a full healthy season.

I think NFL people would view him as a risk, right now. I would say 4th or 5th round. If he came back and had a great season he goes to 1st round, imo.

They all make it about themselves. That's how they get viewers.

I'm honestly pretty surprised. He could easily move into the first round with a solid, healthy year next season. If he stays and gets hurt, he won't lose anything...he'll just end up getting drafted wherever he ends up drafting at this season (round-wise).

I get wanting to jump for the money but the difference between first round and 4/5th round is pretty large ($6-7M/yr vs. $600-700K/yr).

This. He's yet to even peek at his ceiling.
