Justin Fields is going to transfer back to UGA and be granted a waiver but opt out the day prior to the opening.

Zero chance COVID was the reason for this. It's 100% a business decision.

Either:

1. He was about to be beat out.

2. He didn't think he'd perform well enough to really up his draft stock.

3. He felt he was promised a job and not a competition and didn't want to even risk it.

At the end of the day it's all a business. Simple as that.

What's funny about all of this is the competition thinks we are some how going to suck now, not just plug in a 5 star number 1 overall qb. Just being the qb at Mater Dei is an accomplishment.

For those who don't think JT can throw, he threw a 58 yard completion, all in the air to his wr vs Texas his freshman year. Just flipped it.

Looking at his game film from USC and HS, he is the exact match for the new offense.

This is not ground breaking.

Going to be a LOT of this between now and 9/26 or whenever.

The NFL draft next year is going to be a shite show LOL...lots of winners and losers...mostly the latter because no one is going to toss money at someone who didn't play or someone who did play in a 7 game season.

Daniels worries me.

Me too. Dude left USC for a reason.....just like Fields left UGA for a reason...wasn't the best player in town in the coaches eyes....and coaches see stuff during the week that isn't seen by us on Saturday.

Maybe he will have a Joe Burrow season....who the frick knows???

You do realize the coaching staff f'ed up by letting fields walk, right?? You're not making a good case here lol

Not this again. They “let” him walk because they couldn’t force him to stay; it was his choice to leave.

So let me get this straight....God somehow suggested to this dude that he should opt out of a commitment he made??? He claims he prayed and its all part of God's plan. I suspect a lot of cheating spouses, criminals of all sorts, neer do wells and miscreants from all walks of life talk to God and God tells them to do all sorts of ill shite....

Dude talked to an agent, or someone in the family did, and he was told "look son, you looked good against some ACC defenses and the NFL thinks you are pretty...play against SEC defenses 10 times, maybe get hurt in the process...all of a sudden you are the fat girl at the middle school dance, standing against the wall hoping someone mentions dancing let alone asks you to do so....". God ain't said boo on this subject, but the almighty dollar has spoken and who can blame him...it just infuriating when folks blame their greed and deceit on "Gods Plan"...just own it...you weighed the pros and cons and playing in the SEC 10 games and possible a playoff run in a season which will always be remembered as meaningless wasn't a great idea. It wasn't a great idea when the season became questionable...just own that shite. I don't blame him...he agreed to UGA in a different time...it wasn't in his best interest now....I get it...just own that shite.

If I had a son in Newman's position, I'd tell him,"the hell you're backing out of the season. You committed to that staff, you honor that commitment"

I take your point but dude is a grown arse man and will soon have more money than Daddy ever had most likely....he'd probably tell Daddy to kiss his un-committed ass.....

Something happened a few months back that made the staff want to get Daniels. Looks like that was a wise choice.

Good point. Was questionable why he would come with Newman on board....writing may have been on the wall in Butts Mehre...

Poor choice of wording. What I mean is that we didn't give him the chance he probably deserved, pissed him off, and he got out. Better?

Jamie Newman committed to UGA prior to Monken getting the job.

Rumor is that Monken convinced JT to come to fit his system.

It wasn't a knock on Newman. It had nothing to do with what Newman could or couldnt do. Daniels was the long term fit for the system (to push Newman in 2020 and take the reigns in 2021 with a year in the system)

Better? I guess. I personally feel we gave him all the chance he deserved at the time and he just thought he was better than he was in year one.

The guy is very talented but wasn’t ready as a true freshman to take the spot from Fromm. Maybe (or even likely) he would have won the starting spot in his second year, especially with all our WR issues and him being able to use his mobility to help make up from that, but then again maybe it wouldn’t have mattered given how out of sorts the WR position was for us. We won’t ever know what would have been; he didn’t give us the chance to see.

My main beef is with the notion that our coaches “let him go” as others have said, with the meaning that either the coaches didn’t care if he left or even that they drove him out. His leaving was entirely his decision as he didn’t want to fight for a spot he thought he deserved out-right.

So what, new offense and players vs a seasoned elite defense.

Kind of expect it...

You don’t expect your QB to throw two pick sixes in a scrimmage. He also missed one wide open TD in a bad throw, and didn’t look good overall.

He might end up being very good. He obviously has some really high quality skills. But that doesn’t mean he’s there yet.

Not worried, first scrimmage. He is not Fromm he is going to take chances.

Also, the short passing game near the line of scrimmage is susceptible to pick 6s.

He is just going to have to improve and will with more time.

The few times that I watched USC with Daniels I was puzzled, then USC lost. I know there's good talent on the roster. Maybe it is Daniels.
