Is it bad advice? Seems the pundits were pretty high on Newman at the next level

For a guy like Jamar Chase it isn't but for Newman I don't think it's good advice at all. He's pretty much all over the board
with his draft status.

there any real upside to playing a 10 game SEC schedule and possibly a playoff run against teams with missing pieces
Of course there is.Your playing against the best competition in CFB...regardless of CV. If he knocks it out this year I would assume he solidifies
a high draft position. Now he's a question
mark at best.

Agree to disagree.I see a huge upside

Newman got horrifically awful advice from someone. Epic.

Supposedly from the same asshat that got Fields to transfer to OSU.

Depends upon the combine.

The gamble is that Newman will be putting all his eggs into the combine.

Show out at the combine and all is forgiven by the NFL. They have short memories and focus on potential more than anything. Saturdays are just a way to get initially noticed and known.

He is taking a gamble regardless. Plays in the SEC, tears it up and moves up. Plays in the SEC, gets beat up and shown to be not that great and ends up losing money. I think he got some bad advice from someone. He may have been the next big thing. I am now pulling for Mathis.

Just don't think Newman had the standing to take a year off.

He needed UGA more than we needed him.

Qb is a weird position, Burrow would be in a different place entirely without last season.

If he had come out and had a big season, he could have easily vaulted over Trey Lance to be QB3 off the board in this draft. Lance is only playing one game this year as that's all North Dakota State could get scheduled.

I'd love to see Mathis come in and light it up. It's been a compelling story of adversity for that young man and I hope he can show off what got him to UGA.

Same. The human interest story for Mathis is off the charts.

Having a big season against 10 SEC defenses is highly unlikely though, no? Joe Borrow aside I think it’s more likely to either reveal some issues or merely suggest what is already known from Wake Forest. Obviously Joe Burrow managed to increase his stock like no one ever has but that probably ain’t happening again soon....more likely he merely held pat and risked injury or took a step back.....
