wouldn't be surprised if Daniels is threatening to take the starting job.

I thought Daniels just recently got cleared to practice.

Yeah. To transfer in at the height of the virus then announce he's out as the numbers go down doesn't add up.

Daniels or Mathis must have put on a show.

Personally, I'm rooting for Mathis. Kid has earned his spot.

the self righteousness and total lack of awareness. Typical of the modern athlete. Their word means nothing, the schools they attend don't mean anything to them.

The more the years wear on, the more absolutely impressed I am with Clemson's program.

The coaches stick around, the kids for the most part honor their pledge, they recruit high character kids, etc.

If I had a son in Newman's position, I'd tell him,"the hell you're backing out of the season. You committed to that staff, you honor that commitment"

Something happened a few months back that made the staff want to get Daniels. Looks like that was a wise choice.

Obviously the NCAA wouldn't but unless the team said otherwise Kirby would 100% let him back on

Odd timing no? He was ok with COVID- riddled football until 9/2? A few days after the first scrimmage? Maybe JT was starting to impress.

I figured picking up Daniels was for after 2020.

This right here

There's a reason Kirby got Daniels this summer.

No disrespect, but there's a reason he was at Wake and Daniels was at USC.

You could be right.

But the expectation for Daniels was to push Newman in 2020 and lead the team 2021.

The lesson at the end of this is that you cant have too many studs at QB. 2017. 2019. And now 2020.

A few of the “insiders” are hyping D’wan Mathis for the starting job... Idk if that’s because he’s better or JTD just needs more time to get healthy.

Also, I agree about Daniels arm strength. I don't think he has a canon. Looks like he has pretty average arm talent to me whereas Newman looked like he could rip it and he is such a big physical presence at QB too

Daniels was a 5 star recruit. Scouts don't hand out 5 star ratings for anything. If Daniels arm talent is average he must be a hell of a runner then?

Jim Donnan has been on Mathis for 2 years now. Says he is the fastest UGA QB ever and has a great arm.

Nothing Donnan says knocks Daniel. Just hype based upon what Mathis can do in practice.

Donnan singled out Cager last year in summer workouts and singled out Condon a week before the the interviews (which has every beat writer singling out Condon).

Look. I don't know what is going on with the situation, but if he was about to be passed by Daniels or Mathis, then he would only do his draft status harm by staying. Barring injury to a starter he would get very little playing time.

It is what it is.

Once you are out of high school it becomes a business for everybody involved. It becomes about money, your future.....there is very little loyalty toward a coach or school because there is very little loyalty toward the player.

The school is going to do what is best for the school in order to win and the player is going to do what is best for the player as to making it to the NFL.

Any kind of kumbahyah feelings player have toward their alma mater comes from players who will never make it to the NFL, or by players after they make it to the NFL. Until then the players will do whatever it takes to go to the NFL and make money to make their lives more comfortable and their families lives more comfortable and the school will do what is necessary to win games.
