Beck hasn’t looked great, but being completely fair, his reps have normally come with all of our offensive 2’, 3’s and 4’s while the other teams have still had a lot of starters in. It’s hard to shine when you get less time in the pocket and less experienced/less talented skill position players than QB1/QB2.

What I am more intrigued by is the fact that BVG hasn’t really even gotten garbage reps, despite the fact that Redshirts can play in a few games. Either his grasp isn’t great or he may not be the phenom we were sold during recruiting.

I’ll never understand the idiots that try to diss Stetson Bennett. You morons better be thankful that he’s loyal to UGA. Shite, folks, grow a freakin’ brain.

Can you imagine the season 2020 would have been without Stet to come in? We probably would have been 3-6 last year.

If they can't beat him out, they might do very well in the NESCAC

Well he played against UAB so he can play on three more games. Given Becj loss terrible and both JTD and SB have been banned up, Kirby probably doesn't want to burn too many games in the fire this of the season in case something terrible happens and both JTF and SB cannot go.

It's not really that surprising that he he didn't play against Clemson or USC.

Didn't Brock say he wanted to redshirt? I think he's probably fine not playing much knowing that he's taking a redshirt this year.

Isn’t Beck doing the real life Beavis and Butthead movie next year?

Reading this post I realized Stetson could be back next year. For some reason I thought he was on the roster in 2016 but he was a freshman in 2017. 2018 he transferred to JUCO. He came back in 2019 as redshirt sophomore; and 2020 didn't count. I just hate to see Brock and Beck transfer because Bennett comes back next year.

Stetson is the backup this year because he has experience and we have championship aspirations. Experience counts for a lot when you're in a game you HAVE to win.

If he returns next season, he'll again be QB2. He's not starter material but he brings enough to the table that he can step in and rather competently handle the QB position in a pinch without sacrificing any chance at a win. Unless JT decides to stay, one of the young guys will be taking reps with the 1's next spring and Stetson will fill the same role he is this season.

He is the best backup QB in the game.

We don't want the best available QB playing. We want the guy that isn't the best right now, but that we all hope one day will be better than the best guy. THAT's the QB we want.

Don't you understand?

Do you guys think JT comes back next year? I would think if he misses 4-5 games that he may need to come back to prove he has fully recovered from his knee injury and can stay healthy. I think it will be a light QB draft next year however. I think he would want to establish being a guaranteed round 2 or higher to go pro. Some of the articles I'm reading say he may not be a 1st or 2nd rounder unless he balls out this season.

I think this is the most accurate take. Bennett is a career backup; he's not going to keep getting better due to his limitations, mainly physical ones.

If Bennett were to return next season and be named the starter, it would reflect either a failure of our QB recruiting over the last couple of years or a failure in roster management. Vandagriff might develop into a championship caliber QB. Stockton might. Even Beck might (though I've not been sold on him; some of it is the rumored attitude and work ethic issues of last year). We KNOW that Bennett won't.

But Bennett comes in handy this season and Smart is going to keep him ready, since no one else is ready to be the backup.

Lots of football to be played but if Daniels continues to sit out a lot with nagging injuries, it would help him and UGA if he returns. His stock has been all over the place, from high first round (mostly media hype) to high second round.

He would have a lot of weapons returning next year and probably a pretty decent OL, too.
