Did anyone notice all the extra padding/protection around his mid-riff/abdomen?
Made me wonder if he's still hurt.

No necessarily. He looked to be throwing fine during warmups. We were across the stadium and I couldn't tell if he had extra padding on when playing.

Watch it on Youtube. Its clear that he has significantly more padding than usual.

Pulled an oblique like a week ago. Honestly shocking how much it screws you up / limits what you can do. Mine healed quickly, but I'm not an athlete by any stretch lol

He was padded like that for the WLOCP as well. We better hope our OL is at its best for the SECCG and Playoff games. sure wish we had a two week break for the SECCG.

Yeah, but back then we expected that. We've since been under the impression that he's fully healed. Which now doesn't seem to be the case?

That deep ball where he overthrew Jaylen Johnson was beautiful. Any of our 1's or 2' would have gotten under that pass.

Others here commented on that at earlier points in the season. Can't remember if it was Missouri or UT, but noticed it looked like he had a flak jacket stuffed under his jersey.

I'll let the doctors comment but seems excessive for a sprained lat. I wonder if we'll learn after the season that something more serious was wrong. This all supposedly started with an "inadvertent hit" in preseason practice. Would a hit cause a sprained lat? Makes you wonder.

At this point I don’t see any reason to hide a more significant injury. It’s not like we’re trying to trick our opponents to plan on JT getting the start.

Rumors are that 1 injury which hadnt healed up led to the 2nd.
Altering the throwing motion aggravated whatever is ailing him now.

Whether that is accurate or not, who knows. But it is out there.

That was actually the narrative 5 weeks ago from the JT Nation, or whatever Jefferson Dawg coined them, I forget what he was calling them.

Is that from any credible people at TnD or just speculation there?

Even credible people can be wrong.

The same concern had been for another player healing from a knee injury and then getting sidetracked with a hammy (theory being overcompensating).

It doesnt sound correct to me. But what a youth/family believes may be more important than reality.

Not this year. We have two cupcakes while Alabama has two physical games. I want them to play us immediately following those two games.

The only way I could see this would pretty much be to get hit in the armpit where your arm is violently bent back behind your head.

I would think the most common ways to injure a lat would be during weightlifting or fighting for a rebound in basketball.

Was it a sprain or could it have been a tear?

I seem to recall him taking a hit after a pass on his upper arm/shoulder area a couple of weeks ago. Was it in the Mizzou game? He was shaking his arm and flexing his hand and wrist.

I can tell you JT's personal QB coach flew in from CA to work with him on getting his mechanics back to where they were pre-injury.
