That doesn’t count for a lot with our historical and recent WR production, particularly with how much Bowers will be featured. For context, UGA has had one 1,000 yard receiver in program history. Alabama had two just this season.

I guess I'm just of the impression that talent is talent. If you play at a big school like Georgia, they’ll recognize you if you’re good enough. Sure you need some production, but NFL teams do actually consider if you’re playing in a run heavy scheme and don’t penalize you for it.

Mhmm, and we spent time recruiting Bouie and Bond as DBs when both wanted to play receiver. I guess we could try Starks at receiver if necessary. Losing Burton is a big blow.

Whether it’s Bennett or someone who takes the job from him, we need to toss the damn tater around a bit more. We need some hunting dog wide receivers.

We just won a title. I don’t care if have a 90/10 run pass ratio if we win. Oklahoma has been a great passing offense for decades and not much to show for it. Jim Chaney had us slinging it a bit more and we had some awful 3 and out possessions so gotta stay balanced.

He’ll also get a lot more attention from opposing teams’ secondary so it’ll be harder for him to get open because he’ll be their go to receiver.

I don’t necessarily disagree but if we want better receivers then we’re not gonna get them throwing 24 passes per game.

Assuming we don’t lose anyone else and Dillon Bell signs in Feb, these are our 22 WRs.

Kearis Jackson, Sr.
Dominick Blaylock, Jr.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Jr.
Arik Gilbert, RSo.
Ladd McConkey, RSo.
Arian Smith, RSo.
AD Mitchell, So.
Jackson Meeks, So.
Chandler Smith, Fr.
De’Nylon Morrisette, Fr.
Dillon Bell, Fr.
Cole Speer, Fr.

I still think this is a great group when you also factor in Bowers and McIntosh into the passing game.

this makes no sense

It's been hinted that the WR/skill position players have not been the biggest fan of our offensive approach or SBIV... not to the point of being distractions, but if you're a WR that wants to go to the league next year, how would you feel if you think there's a strong likelihood of only getting ~3 targets per game next season with a now officially returning QB who just won a natty but was not able to get the ball your way as much as maybe some TE and RB players?

This isn't meant to be a bash Stet comment, but our offensive identity isn't WR friendly right now... Seemed like we had convinced him to at least stick around until spring, but timing of the announcement and another announcement today are not likely to be unrelated.

The coaches have been selling "changes in the future" since JB was recruited... so far, it really hasn't been delivered with regards to offensive transformation and making it more attractive to WRs.

We won a natty and I wouldn't trade that for a second. I do think that much like Kirby's shift in approach after losing out on some defensive recruits due to perceived lack of defensive "highlight" opportunities this may be a turning point/learning moment for Kirby with regards to how to keep mouths fed and players happy. Between the portal, NIL, etc... there are a lot of mechanisms that are going to make it harder to keep everyone on the roster happy, so going to have to make choices along the way that sometimes work out and sometimes don't...
