Will likely finish 2019 with a similar completion percentage to 2017, more yards than 2017, more TDs than 2017, less INTs than 2017 and possibly in less games.
All with a new OC and all new WRs.
The demise of our QB has been greatly exaggerated.

No competition, Fields is a generational QB, but keep selling yourself

His current passer rating is 146.
At this point in 2017, it was 167.
That’s quite the drop off.

One would hope that a QBs stats would improve significantly from Freshman year to Junior year. His avg per completion and QBR has dropped off significantly from his freshman/sophomore year to this year. He has 4 straight games with below 50% completion percentage. Something is up with him, either injury or a terrible case of the yips. Either way, he's struggling.

Come to the conclusion we are probably never going to know all the variables playing into what is “wrong”. The highly scientific eye test says things aren’t in sync. His stats have been good enough to win sans USCe where all the mistakes proved too much. My greatest concern is how we came out at the beginning of the Tech game and couldn’t execute when it appeared we were trying to get some passing rhythm established.
No matter what offensive scheme or opening of the playbook happens Sat, it still comes down to execution. Jake is gonna have to play without pause and dudes are gonna have to catch. Jake has proven he has that ability.

It was an ugly start vs a terrible team, and it was mainly nothing but Fromm missing relatively simple throws.

Agree. However, other factors are playing into why he couldn’t/didn’t execute. Hoping those get addressed so his confidence comes back.
We need some receivers to rise for the occasion.

Jake Fromms first couple of series weren’t as awful as you would have thought unless you rewatch it.
The first pass broken up by the LB, the drop by Kearis on the slant (hit him in the pads), then two actual misfires by Fromm (behind Robertson and at the feet of Landers when he was under pressure)

Do QB stats depend, at all, on the people he is throwing to? What about the running backs? We don’t have WRs or RBs comparable (outside of Swift) to 2017. He hasn’t gotten better, maybe that’s a fair statement..but he’s no more “terrible” than he was then and that’s the narrative.
He gonna finish the year with 2500+ yards, 25 or so TDs and less than 5 INTs. He reminds me of David Greene and he had a dropping his Junior year for similar reasons.

1. almost picked for 6
2. behind to Jackson
3. Very late to Robertson
4. Very Short to landers
He has to start better than this against LSU.

Fromm has been very poor for most of this year.
It is extremely disappointing. It confirms many of our fears that Kirby made the wrong QB choice. I am not sure if he can fix his issues.
Regardless, we have to hope for his best game of the season tomorrow. Anything short of that and LSU is going to blow our doors off.

This shite. Just gets dumb and dumber.

The deal is this: when the qb is missing open guys as often as he is, which wasn’t an issue in 2017, the fault goes to the Qb.

Good comparison as he was another athletically limited, game managing, true freshman starter and was extremely fortunate with timing his tenure with elite defenses and kickers.

The 2003 OL was probably our worst of all time. That’s understandable.

There really aren’t any good arguments otherwise. Frommbots like meansonny and foo have tried, but continue to fail to do so.

No doubt. Fromm’s poor play was a big reason why LSU kicked our asses last year. He can’t do that again.

Richt made the wrong decision too. Shockley should have been starting the whole time. 2002 might not have gone as well but an experienced playmaker in Shockley might have been a huge difference in 2003 and 2004.
I'll take the playmaker over the game manager every single time.

great info & I agree
have I been disappointed in his play? sure; but the characterization of him as a shitty QB is beyond ridiculous

Ya think? Shockley cost us an undefeated season in 2002 and potentially a NC but you'd sacrifice that so we could potentially be better in '03 and '04?

Probably was the wrong choice too. The difference is Richt at least gave DJS a fair chance, and Kirby didn’t do the same. I think DJS was about to win the job until he got hurt in the first half of the Carolina game.
