That was my exact rationale for turning it over to Fields after the LSU game.
FYI, Greene was 11/29 for 141 yards against Florida. He wasn't exactly setting the world on fire.

Richt made the wrong decision too. Shockley should have been starting the whole time. 2002 might not have gone as well but an experienced playmaker in Shockley might have been a huge difference in 2003 and 2004.
Completely agree with that as well.

Math must be hard for you.

Yea Richt was an idiot who would have thought going with the winning-est QB in college football history at the time was such a retarded decision. Just crazy one went in the 3rd round and the other went in the 7th.

I guess you'd take Trent Dilfer over Dan Marino because RINGZZZ, right? Judging a QB solely on wins and losses is fricking retarded.

Pick 6 cost us the game period. Shockley got suckered into the pick with a DB stunt
(whatever you want call it) Greene doesn't
make that mistake or throw.

Stop with this stupidity. Football is a team game.

Here is a test for you:
What was the final score?

If it's a team sport maybe he can get some help with WR getting an ounce of separation or catching balls that hit them in their fricking hands.

The difference is Richt at least gave DJS a fair chance, and Kirby didn’t do the same
what makes you think that? How do you know fields wasn't given a fair chance?

Because he is a quarterback couch guru who got passed over for the volunteer coaching position at his local 2A HS. He has the fricking credentials man.

Aren't you cute.Do you honestly think giving up a pick 6 is exactly the same as
giving up a defensive score on a sustained drive?Do you not understand that a pick 6 or scoop and score is one of the worst ways a team gives up a TD?It's a potential
10 to 14 pt turnaround (we were at midfield and driving) At the very minimum
we pin UF down in the territory. Horrible mistake by Shockley.

You can sell yourself a narrative anyway ya like, I guess, but Jake isn't passing the very simple eye-test this season, and you can't sugarcoat that. And anyone who doesn't see it is being willfully blind.
Last 4 games he's thrown for under 49% completion rate, has taken 5 sacks for stupid big losses, has over-thrown a handful of easy TD passes, has strangely turf-burned another handful of passes, is clearly and consistently throwing into covered receivers while we can all see other receivers and check-downs wide open (Cook and Robertson especially on multiple occasions), and he even audibled Swift into such a horrible play call Swift openly lit into him on the field for all to see.
These are all what are called bad tendencies. And they are extremely uncharacteristic of any QB that would be considered top tier.
It's the junior year of a 3 year starter. A QB that was mentioned as a potential Heisman candidate and possibly a first round pick before the season. And he hasn't come remotely close to meeting expectations.
If I were an NFL GM, I wouldn't think of drafting Jake before the 5th round, and certainly not if I needed an immediate starting franchise QB. Right now he looks like a barely above average game manager at best.
He reeks of a Brady Quinn, Cade McCown, David Carr, and Joey Harrington type. He's not even on Aaron Murray's level and look what happened to him.
And don't get me wrong, I feel like an a-hole because I was fully on the Fromm train prior to this season. I was shouting good riddance to Fields and telling everyone we're in better shape with Jake, suggesting he would be in the Heisman talks likely throwing for 3,500 yards and 35+ TD's.
LOL, what a mistake on my part.
At this point, I'm praying that "defense wins championships" mantra comes to fruition for us and that Coley calls plays better than he has all season and Jake plays better than he has all season. That's all I can hope for tomorrow, and hopefully even further.

We just had a whole thread on this earlier in the week:
quote:
Despite a struggling Fromm, Look at his lack of PT vs Carolina, Mizzou, UT, candy, LSU, and UF. Fromm had 2 early ints and 2 early fumbles in the first 3 of those games, and fields still didn’t get a shot. That’s on Kirby, and fields Being unhappy about that is perfectly reasonable. Kirby gave him zero reasons to think he would have a real pchance to be our starter in 2019, so he left for a real shot. How can he prove anything in those games if he isn’t getting the requisite PT? The only way a starter loses his job is if the starter gets hurt or backup outplays him, and Kirby never gave Fields a chance to do that.

He is missing open wrs, so they can’t be blamed for his inaccuracy, not to mention They have done a good job of not dropping his good passes.

Take a td away from the final score. What would the score be? 13-13. That’s a tie, not a win.
Also, do you think Greene never throw a pick 6 in his career? Did he play good in that game?

A lot of throws are anticipated and when a receiver stops hesitates or looks back at the QB after the ball is released and just misses its on the young WR for not trusting the experienced QB.

That’s not been the problem.

They do? They get open quite often and Fromm still can't get the ball to them accurately. Two wide open TDs against A&M and missed both badly. Had Robertson open on a crossing route for a sure fire first down, and Fromm couldn't even throw it accurately to a guy 15 yards in front of him.

Ship didn't answer the question (typical)
Do you wanna play sementics all day? (YOU probably do) If you don't realize that a pick 6 can be a 14 point swing I can't help you out.
It was the pivotal play and cost us the game and potentially a NC.All because we wanted to stick a Freshman in the game to give him PT.How many games did Shockley help us win in '02?
