He could’ve left last year but didn’t to come back and win a championship.

He lost me when he said preseason his goals were to win the Heisman, be the first QB drafted, and win the NC. But the NC comment was last on his list.
Me. Me. Team. Wrong order.

I saw Gunnar up close at the Corky Kell passing camp in June of '22 before his senior year at Rabun as he was in the pod that I was officiating. When you officiate/are in the game for a good while You know when someone Is different and stands out. Gunnar was that guy. The way he commanded the huddle. Body language. And the way the ball cam out of his hand was different. He threw a pass that buzzed past me and Rusty and Kaylee Mansell You could hear the ball literally humming as it zipped by.

He's gonna be fine.

Gunner has had a lot of coaching from good football people since he was a kid. He doesn’t have Beck’s arm or fast release, nor his command and experience running the offense in games. He can work on some of that. Beck was and is a DGD and talkingnshit about him now is trash level. He did a lot for this team.

I agree with all of that. I still think you go into next season with an open competition, but he’s the best chance to end this season successfully with Beck down.

This. It’s pretty telling that it was reported earlier that he has a UCL tear, pretty much putting an end to the idea of him being back for the championship run and there no thread started to discuss that. Just this thread to start speculative shite talk about Becks relationship with his teammates and to imply that Gunner is superior simply on the basis of being from Georgia.

No, but even my wife noticed a difference in the reaction of the team towards Gunner. Hell, maybe she and I are reading too much into this but it did make me wonder.

Everybody can be right, people can want to see Stockton succeed and not mean ill to Beck.

Players are pulled towards certain personalities and smug, people who just give off odd vibes after every play the may still like the guy but are ready for a change

This. I feel really bad for Beck. He was probably a top 10 pick last year if he went into the draft (I'd have certainly rather had him than Penix...) but he came back for one more shot at a title and the season couldn't have gone worse for him.

If this really is a UCL tear, that's the injury that causes baseball pitchers to have Tommy John. That's generally a 16-18 month recovery process. This would be devastating for Beck's career.

They can be fine with Beck and love Gunner. It's not a zero-sum game.

Brock Purdy.had the same injury and was back throwing in 10 months. I know that that's not the norm but just throwing it out there.

My son is sophomore in Athens and has a class with a recognizable member of the team who told my kid regarding Beck “that **gg@ is azz”

I had to Google it. Apparently means he sucks, but I don’t know if that was mean on a personal level or on the field.

Even if true, I would take it with a grain of salt. Almost all of these kids think they are better than whoever is playing in front of them, as evidenced by Humphrey and Nitro hitting the portal before the end of the season.

I say that to point out that just because they are football players themselves does not mean they are good judges of talent.

In the pic you posted, the play is still going on. They were trying to score by lateraling the ball for the next twenty seconds. No one is going to check on him while the freaking play is still happening.

I said the same thing in my post. That a lot was going on. Learn to read.
