I don't think our alabama issue is mental at all, unless you want to count on the part of chaney's playcalling and playign not to lose.

Beating them like a rented mule for three quarters and turtling up in the fourth for two years in a row can definitely get inside the players' heads though.

his point was how badly we were blown out in these losses, not simply that we lost the game.

Bullseye.

I get it, we are gonna lose games, but that LSU game was embarrassing..from the game plan, the execution and effort....the AU game from a few years back was embarrassing as frick...hell even the Texas bowl game....Texas really?

Our team can lose and still win it all, I get it, but at least make it competitive.

I would argue that at the time, getting our arse handed to us by LSU was actually better for the TEAM. Brought them together, made them understand that they aren’t world beaters......

Look at the way we played before that game and after. We don’t lose to LSU and we probably lose to UF and we aren’t even in the SECCG

If we don't make the playoff this year then that would be a huge disappointment.

This is gonna be the last year Tennessee and Florida will be inferior to us with the way they are recruiting. The SEC East is gonna be stacked with 3 legit teams the next few years.

I am glad we got a head start on Florida and Tennessee but they're coming for us and the road is gonna get a lot tougher.

2019 will be the last year where we win the SEC East relatively easy, so it's gonna be the last year we have a relatively easy path to the SEC Championship.

It's a pivotal year because UGA has every piece to build a champion.

Not winning the chip this year, however, doesn't break UGA, and frankly the team hasn't earned that "Championship or Bust" level of expectation.

Consistency. No blown 4th quarter leads. No laid eggs.

If we can do those three for the entire season I'll be happy.

It's not make or break but with the talent we have in the trenches and if Fromm can stay healthy we definitely should make a run.

Dabo started at Clemson in 2008..his first of 2 Nat Championships was 2016..I'm guessing this is a good yardstick for Kirby.

They're getting better, but we'll still be the better squad from a talent standpoint based on the way we're recruiting.

Incorrect barring some sort of attrition disaster.

The talent gap is actually widening

Agreed, UF's O-line will be a shite show this yr. They seriously may have to start 2-3 true frosh which spells disaster.

Id like to see us fricking show up to every game...Kirby is a great coach but frick me if we haven't had a head scratcher every year. Auburn a few years back, LSU/Texas last year, ole miss his first year even though I excuse that on a bit.. Championship teams dont lay eggs...they just dont.

I agree 100% but will give a pass on Texas....bowl games are meaningless today. It meant a lot to Texas though....their recruiting was off the chart in part due to the Sugar Bowl win....but that doesn't matter to us...we probably have to beat the Big 12 champion to win a natty, be it Oklahoma, Texas or some other offensive juggernaut.

I don't think this season is a breaking point unless we take a step backward. If we lose more than twice and don't win the SEC East then we may be on a downward trend....our schedule aint exactly easy and throw Alabama in the mix at least once if not twice and the damn thing is nearly untenable....

Which begs the question...if Bama played Clemson's schedule and Clemson played Bama's...who'd have won the Natty? Bamas schedule is about as easy as an SEC west schedule can get because they don't play themselves....Clemsons is much easier week to week, especially down the stretch....ours is BRUTAL down the stretch and adding Notre Dame is fun but its TOUGH

With every loss to Alabama, that road bump gets closer to being a mountain. I think Kirby is great and will be for a long time, but I really, really hope Alabama doesn't become a mental roadblock like Florida was for so many years. It was so bad in Jax for awhile that we would often be down 14-0 before the game started because of the mental block.

We weren't competitive against Florida in those days....we have been against Alabama. Weve beaten them for what. 120 minutes of 126? Of course its the 6 minutes that count but of the last 3 losses to them we were more competitive against them than we were in nearly all of Spurriers years at UF...

But his fear is that a 3rd loss would make Bama become a mental issue, not that they already are.

You're mistaking the fact that they're recruiting better with the misconception that they're bringing in the same kind of talent as UGA. The talent gap is not getting wider, as some would say, but it's maintaining at a fairly significant UGA advantage.

It is getting wider at Tennessee. And staying the same at Florida.

You have to compare 2015 to 2019 to get a trend.
2015: Tennessee was #4 class in the country. 7 players composite rated .9400+
Florida was #21 class. 3 players composite rated .9400+
Georgia was #6 class. 7 players composite rated .9400+

2019:
Georgia is #2 class with 10 players composite .9400+
Florida is #9 class with 6 players composite .9400+
Tennessee is #12 class with 5 players composite .9400+

The only other factors not included are transfers and early entries to the NFL.

But from a recruiting standpoint... we are still pulling away from Tennessee and holding Florida at bay with a very, very strong 2019 class.

UF losing 2 1st rdrs in Taylor and Polite plus 2 probable 2nd rdrs in Joseph and Gardner will smart for sure. They are replacing their entire O-line also, I just don't get the gators hype heading into next season. Hell they returned 20 starters last season, it was easy to see they would be pretty good.

I agree with you.

But losing 15 starters who were 3 stars and replacing them with 4 stars is a talent upgrade. Their 2015 class was god awful with only 4 blue chippers. 2019 has 17.
