You can request whatever you want. The only things that are honored are when you schedule OOC games. The bye requests are maybe.

Well you could tell in their play... the problem is there is no longer an room for off days.

I think most of us thought there would would be a screw up game... we just hoped it would be against TEXAM or ND And not put us behind the 8 ball.

I do fully expect UGA to still win the East and absolutely level UK this week.

But the problems on offense are not a mirage and have to be addressed before the first week in December.

At a certain point the coaches can only do so much. If the players don’t heed their warnings or leaders don’t lead the coaches can’t go out and play for them
i basically said this earlier this week and got crucified for it

There is a lack of individual effort leading to big plays. The amount of runs over 20 yards is anemic compared to last year. I've also seen a lack of WRs making a catch then breaking ankles for big gains. The play makers are not making plays this year.

May have just started listening to, or reading, too much of their own press.

I met Kirby at an event in New Orleans last year prior to the Sugar Bowl. He said something that really caught my attention and surprised me. I implied that we looked really good against Bama and that I hoped that would bode well vs. Texas. He said "yall dont know how hard it has been to motivate these kids for a game like this."

That was 5 days before laying the turd we did in the Sugar Bowl. I was shocked that it would be difficult to motivate players for the Sugar Bowl, but I guess times have changed.

I guess nobody in this thread ever played sports. Or if they did, they were the extremely rare person who gets fired up for every game. But for everybody else, waxing and waning of motivation happens all the time, on their job, in their relationshps, in their life. And if the immediate circumstances don't seem particularly threatening, they relax, and sometimes get eaten by a wolf. Nothing new here.

You are absolute correct about that, but there's a difference between a player or two having an off game and the whole team being completely flat.

When it's one person it's just life. When it's everyone on an entire side of the ball, that's an opportunity for a leader to see where he can improve. QB, Receivers, O-Line, Backs were all sub par. That's unacceptable at Kirby's level of aspiration and UGA's goals.

they absolutely have, this isn't the cfb of even 10 years ago. Even during the BCS era when you had 1 title game for 1v2, all the other big time BCS bowls still had that old school allure that got people fired up.

Nowadays, I think kids think "well we're not in the playoffs, so waht's the point?" not to mention the utterly stupid recent fad of sitting out the bowl game to save yourself for the NFL. We had just lost our chance at the playoffs and were going to a game that we were honestly better than, whereas texas had a pretty bad season utnil late then turned it on and were coming in hot. They also hadn't played ina bowl worth a damn since the NCG 9 yeras prior, and hadn't played in the sugar bowl since 1995. Their team and fanbase was fired up and saw that as a win and somethign to look forward to while our guys saw it as a consolation prize that we simploy had to go do before the season could end.

Granted, it's still on kirby to combat all that and get them motivated, but I can at least see WHY things were wonky in that regard.

It was the worst half they played all season.

That would be the first half vs. Citadel
