Also get the XL. That is what i Have with the Egg. More space the better.

Agreed. No one has ever bought an XL and regretted the size, IMO, but I've known tons of folks who bought a Medium and wish they got the Large, or large and really wanted the XL.

Jeff, appreciate your insight.

My gravitation towards Kamado over BGE actually has nothing to do with the cost. I wouldn’t be looking into any of these types of grills if I was price sensitive. I prefer the accessories offered by Kamado and the Georgia color scheme is also not a minus.

Having talked with guys who own or have owned both, they don’t seem to have any strong quality differentiations between the two brands. Are there any that you would like to share?

Jeff failed to put together a riboff for the second year in a row. Or is it three years now he has failed?

And he never participated... but talks lots of shite.

Yes.

Number 1, you're never going to know the difference in the taste of the food whether it was cooked on a Komoto Schmoe, or on a Green Egg, or on a grate over a hole you dug in the ground and lit some charcoal in. So, let's keep things in perspective here. ...What you are shopping for here is a toy. Nothing more. In the form of an outdoor oven for your backyard to have fun with.

So, the question is....which toymaker do you want to give your money too?

The original outdoor oven backyard pioneer big green egg....or the schlubby PT Cruiser Komoto Schmoe copy-cat body-snatcher knock-off crew ?

The choice is clear. Green egg is the way to go.

Plus, it gets you immediate membership into a fanatical cult of enthusiasts.

I don’t want a toy. What I want is a giant ceramic bowl that I can put a bunch of weed into, light it, and gather around with all my friends to catch a contact high.

You are an ingrate with a shitty memory.

sQuatch Dawg won RibOff last year, and you got blown out as per usual.

Also, I won a blue ribbon for Best Beverage for my review of a baseball bat flavored McSnoot Ale tasting.

Don't forget Vision Grills

Friend has a Kamado, FIL and BIL have a Vision, dad and myself have a BGE. I love the BGE and I'll never get rid of it but for the price the Vision does the job.

If I bought another one I may go Kamado but at this point I want a gas grill cause evidently my wife hates "smoky" tastes and thus sucked the fun out of grilling.

This rat cheer. I bought one three years ago and haven't lit up the egg since.

Pellet grill is the way to go. Do some research and you will find out for yourself. That lump charcoal is bullshite compared to a nice hickory pellet.

My thoughts exactly. Hickory smoked some sausage stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers this weekend. Everyone was pleased.

Yep.

Whole pieces of natural wood suck compared to processed compacted chemical sawdust balls made from swept-up leftovers at the plywood factory.

Another vote for a BGE. Held off at first because of price but got one about 10 years ago and if it broke, I’d be out replacing it the next day. Use it several times a week and you can do pretty much anything on it.

Folks who are serious about BBQ cook their food over real wood, not hamster pellets.

They sell the 30lb. bag for profiling purposes so they know who's serious about their food.
