I've had a BGE for about 30 years. Used to love it, used it all the time...but now? Who has the time? Ive got a masterbuilt electric smoker and can do anything on it that I can do on the BGE except grill and I have a propane grill for that. The electric smoker is the easiest thing in the world to use....I smoke pork butts in it and don't even worry about temperature. Set it and forget it for about 12 - 14 hours and its always perfection. I'd have to watch the BGE the whole time. Not the worst way to spend a day but who has time? I wouldn't buy a BGE again but that's just me...I simply do not want to spend that much time cooking....and I ain't spending that much money on anything that consumes that much time that doesn't float or frick.....

Boom.... I just came up with a gimmick idea to get rich as shite off of.
You see, most grill makers are just trying to make money off selling the grill and accessories right?. But, maybe we can come up with a grill that runs on a product that the buyer will have to purchase from us over and over again for the life of the grill. We could maybe go raid the scrap bin at the coffee table manufacturing plant, grind that shite up into a patented shape, and sell it as exclusive smoke fuel for our scrap-wood grills!!!
Oh, rats! Someone already came up with that. Oh well.

Interesting we have found a topic that brings out the passion and "side taking" as much as SEC football.
Outdoor cooking apparatus... Everyone digs in on their respective choices.
I want in on the Rib cookoff. I got two racks going on the BGE on Thursday. Special "Cajun" style rack and a Texas Rack...
I assume there will be equally heated debate on what style of Rib Rub and Style is the best.
I have not signed up yet for the traditional "Southeast" style BBQ yet.
Still living in the past with my Louisiana roots and 23 years in Texas.

And so it begins....,
NCDawg50, Change the title of your thread to "July 4th GSB Grill Fest" and put a pic of a bald eagle or something patriotic in the OP.
Dallas, You've been appointed as Master of Ceremonies. A description of your duties will follow.
Deeprig, Get some patriotic music links (non-phish) posted to set the mood
Everyone else, Feel free to start discussing your cook plans and cook prep for the big day. As well as your fireworks stash, 4th of july beer/liquor stockpiles, the Braves, How great Trump is, and whatever else. Pictures of all of it are encouraged. As a reminder, a firearm should be included in any pics showing off of your grill/smoker.

We have an accord.
No problem on the firearm. I will bring out some of my "evil" AR's to add to the Ambiance of Murica....
I plan to prep my ribs tomorrow night with a hand made rub and a secret ingredient (Hint its Creole Butter Cajun Injector) plus home made rub.
Texas i use Rudy's Rub, Brown Sugar and Rudy's BBQ sause.. (yes its spelled that way)
Side note : I cannot do a brisket, I have ruined about 200 bucks of quality brisket trying. Pork and Fish I will challenge anyone. Beef aside from Steak I have not mastered yet and to much of a gash to try again.
As for the other things.
Elijah Craig Bourbon (Splash of Sprite)
Braves on the radio/TV
Fireworks a collection of several neighbors. Safety not a factor or considered.

DOing brisket well is nothing to brag about but they can do it well in Texas...just take a nearly unedible cut of beef, born it to a fair the well on the outside and coat it with ketchup....serve it with pork and beans straight from the can and folks in Austen will line up at 7 am for a 10 oclock opening!!! Damndest thing I ever saw...BBQ is pig and the folks in North Carolina do know a thing or two about it....the only thing I have found in texas that was worth eating was sausage and beer...they cant bbq for shite and know nothing about steak.....or Mexican food for that....they can brew beer and make good sausage though....
