Eason spent too much time partying to bother watching film. Fields was too arrogant.

To be fair…25 of his 32 passes WERE completions…just 3 of them were completed to guys wearing the other uniform.

So Eason was released by the Colts, picked up by the Seahawks (where he'll never play) and Fields is still pretty good AF at handing the ball off, but not much else.

I feel like maybe, just MAYBE, Kirby knows what he's doing.

Also, to be fair, Fields IS playing and Fromm is struggling to stay on a practice squad. That is not to say that Fields is worlds better. The Bills have a better QB situation than Da Bearsss.

If Fields was doing anything at all the "I told ya to draft him" crowd would be coming out of their hole

I wasn't expecting Fields to be the next Tom Brady or anything, but I also didn't expect him to be this terrible either. Does he have a crappy Oline or something? What's his deal?

Ohio State did allow him to run an offense that gave him easy throws against out matched defenses. As soon as he had to play a real, complex, and athletic defense in college, he looked like Beavis trying to read the Art of War in its native tongue. Ohio State was probably the right move for him. Allowed him pad stats on an offense that had better players than most of the defenses he faced. It got him paid, but didn’t prepare him for what he is dealing with now. He has a lot of athletic ability. He is gonna have to put a lot of work in for this game to slow down for him. Some of that will depend on him and some will depend on how much patience the NFL gives him.

The Bears history at QB is one of the more fascinating head scratchers in the NFL. Jay Cutler is probably the best QB they've had since WW2.

Yeeeeeeea.......sorta. Let's be honest, he's starting for the same reason Cam did. They have been billed as generational talents since almost day one. They were never going anywhere to be a backup, but that day will come when it becomes evident that they don't develop (already has for Cam).

Fromm is behind Josh Allen and a team with that QB situation doesn't draft a Justin Fields to begin with, so not necessarily a fair comparison.

Fromm has the brain, but lacks the tools.

Fields has the tools, but lacks the brain.

It’s not hard to see why Kirby chose Fromm over Fields. It’s safer to play the guy who doesn’t frick up as much.

Fields is smart. He had a very above average ACT score. I think he lacked maturity at UGA.

But what's this saying about Fromm, who got released by the Bills 14 or 15 months after being a 5th round pick, and is now practice squad and may never see an NFL field in a game?

I'm not sure how we conclude that somehow Fromm is better than Fields based on this.

Looks to me like the last time UGA produced a true, next-level quarterback was Matt Stafford. Maybe with Kirby taking recruiting to a higher level, we'll start to see more QBs who at least have the tools to be NFL material.

I think the real challenge is there aren't a lot of guys out there who can live up to that trajectory. There's only 32 NFL QB's and 128 FBS schools. The numbers game alone makes it pretty difficult to place a QB into a starting role in the NFL. I know it looks like Saban ran an NFL QB factory for three years, but that's not normal, it's an anomaly. I know it looks like Lincoln Riley did the same, but that's an outlier, another anomaly. You just have to try and pack the QB room with as many elite guys as you can, let the cream rise to the top, and play that guy. Let the others transfer out. Grooming them for the NFL isn't necessarily the priority. Nor do I think it should be. The priority should be "who gives us the best chance to win next week". Sometimes that's not necessarily the guy with the better NFL projection, long term.

I think JT Daniels has NFL tools, for sure.

I think Stetson could have a long, well-paying career as a backup and/or scout QB, making a lot more money than most college grads make coming out of college.

This has been a major difference between UGA and the teams who have been winning national titles.

And a 3rd or more of those teams wish they has a QB that was worth a damn

Where are the QBs from National Champs the last 11 years now? Are any of them top 10 NFL QBs?
