I'm also a nurse. I've worn at least three different types of N95s over the last 4 months and have seen two of those frequently outside of the hospital or worn by patients in the hospital. They're not as uncommon as you're making it seem. A lot of them look like any other masks. The duck bill is the only one that really stands out. They're not rocket science to make. The problem with them, real or "fake," is that they only work if you're fitted. If it doesn't fit, it's just an expensive face covering.

I have little doubt that wearing a mask helps...ample video evidence of less crap flying through the air. The problem I see is folks want to get back to normal...studies show that wearing a mask coupled with social distancing works well, masks alone not as well...folks want to get back to normal so may will do so with the false impression or hope that a mask alone will protect them. Many employers were all about telecommuting back when masks were scarce and we were told we didn't need them...but now that they aren't and we are told we do need them many of those employers are going to forget about telecommuting and will insist that employees return to work. There is no doubt that mask helps, in my mind, but I think the untrained general public will rely to heavily on masks and will try to go back to life as near to normal as before. I think it was mistake to react the way we did in the first place but the damage is done...it makes no sense to make a bad situation worse by creating a false sense of security....the message should be what is supported by the evidence...masks used in conjunction with social distancing...in other words stay at home unless you have to go out...and wear a mask when you do...is effective. Masks in and of themselves not as much....

I don't think that masks will help much if people are closed in together for long times in tight spaces lacking adequate ventilation. I do feel safe grocery shopping with an N95.

In wide open spaces outdoors masks probably aren't necessary as long as people don't get real close. I've been to outdoor cookouts and felt completely safe. I got trapped into an indoor dinner party that made feel me nervous but I won't do that again.

When you think he can't say something even dumber than what he has said before, just wait a few days.

And there you have it...If you are nervous or at high risk, don't go places you don't feel comfortable. It's that simple.
At first it was "flatten the curve" while we get equipment and tests. We did that. Now it's wear a mask again...
Let's be clear, who gives a shite. You think it's going to continue until we have a vaccine anyways, so DONT come out of your butt buddy bunker until then. It is your choice.

Needing to wear a mask never went away, so it’s not really an “again”. Now that the curve is going in a bad direction fast, idiots who never wore them or quit wearing them need to be reminded of their importance.

I didnt think the curve was positive tests.

The curve was hospitalizations.

Have we seen the current hospitalization numbers?
Have they spiked? I haven't seen the numbers yet

Hospitalizations tend to follow infections. Hospitals are starting to fill up with covids.

My hospital has 3 times more than we ever had right now.

Edit: 3 times more inpatients. Just to be clear.

Oh look, the dishonest piece of shite being his typical dishonest piece of shite self.

CDC Hospitalization tracker

Even at it's peak, hospitals weren't full, and we're at a fraction of the hospitalizations right now.

My wife just told me Kennestone Hospital is practically empty right now.

You're continually saying shite that doesn't mesh with reality.

Not sure why.

First it was acting like N95's are everywhere, and now it's claiming your hospital has 3x as many COVID patients than ever before, when the weekly tracker by the CDC shows even elderly COVID-associated hospitalizations has dropped from near 70 per 100k down to just under 9 per 100k.

There's no fricking way your hospital suddenly is at a rate relative to 200 per 100k right now.

So either you're lying, or you're just stupid. I don't know which, or why you would do this.

I'm not a mathematician but I'm pretty sure I'm close. If you take how many we had in April and multiply it by 3, that's what we have today. That's reality for my facility.

They are. I don't know why that's so hard to believe. Anyone can buy them.

You understand different places are having different problems, right? Two months ago, the New York City area was buried in dead people.

US Department of Health says Jacksonville has all the COVID-19. Beef says REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Dude, the CDC tracker can be split out by state, too.

Here is Georgia by itself:

Again, I don't know why you would do this unless you have an agenda, because you're full of shite.

Georgia hospitals hit a peak in week 17, mid-April, that was higher than the national average for nearly every age group by around 20%.

Today, we are slightly below the national average in every age group, including the elderly.

There is no freaking way any hospital in this state somehow has 3x the hospitalizations it had in April. Your hospital and town would be, by itself, around 5,000% above the national average at this moment. Which means your town would be the front page news on every network that exists and the National Guard would have it quarantined off with walls of barbed wire.

Stop lying.

LOL, from your own article:

quote:

Jacksonville has seen increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in June with 601 new cases reported Tuesday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

At the time of this story’s publication, 10,308 Duval County residents had tested positive for COVID-19, with 70 deaths and 387 hospitalizations. The median age of those infected in Duval County is 35.

387 hospitalizations in your area since this thing started. 27 weeks of tracking.

That's a whopping 14.34 hospitalizations per week on average.
