For everyone so gracious with Fields let me summarize:
He made a conscious decision to come to UGA behind a freshman that just took us to the natty. Nobody forced or tricked him.
He was given every chance to compete for the position including more playtime than any freshman backup ever. This is a guy who only started in HS for 2 years I believe. It was obvious to anyone watching that he wasn’t ready.
He was already talking shite about his role by the SC game. We can’t be sure but it seems obvious there had to be friction in the locker room.
He declares he’s leaving 2 days before early signing day. This wasn’t a coincidence.
He decides the rules shouldn’t apply to him because he’s special so he gets an attorney who makes up some bullshite racial hardship argument ...despite anyone with a pulse knowing it isn’t true. You can rest assured they would’ve tarred and feathered UGA if we hadn’t agreed to the waiver.
frick him.

This is the only reason I’m glad they got the hardship. Feel like things will calm down on the “UGA is racist” front.

So are they going to release the actual facts and reasons behind the decision or no? Nothing in Fields commentary sounds like it has anything to do specifically with race. In fact, he's saying the exact opposite.
quote:
"My overall experience at UGA was fully consistent with UGA's commitment to diversity and inclusion," Fields said. "My sister is a softball player at UGA. I am still close friends with many of my UGA teammates. A part of me will always be a Georgia Bulldogs fan."

If I recall, the NCAA isn't required to release any facts about it. It may even be protected under educational records law.
There isn't much to say about this than what's already been said. JF was an entitled prima donna. He's not the first and he sure won't be the last. His parents are of course part of the issue as they raised him. They are dreaming of NFL millions just like he is.
The problem is that the NCAA is losing control of the game. Is it still "amateur" athletics? They've now opened the door to college football free agency.

Sasser wasn't kicked out of school but I'm pretty sure that his staying at UGA would be a bad idea. Sasser should go to Liberty University where he would be a better fit.

I don’t mind THAT he left but I do mind HOW he left. It may not be in a players best interest to stay and Georgia and that’s perfectly ok! Normally when a player transfers they have to sit out 1 year UNLESS they are granted a hardship waiver due to an illness or death in the family etc. Some new rules were recently included: “documented mitigation circumstances" that the change of schools was made to better impact his "health, safety and well-being."
Earlier last season at a football game a former UGA baseball player yelled “put that n word in the game”(referring to Fields). It was stupid and insensitive. After learning of this UGA performed an investigation and dismissed the player.
Did the insensitive words of a FORMER student pose a threat to the health, safety, and well being of Justin Fields? No. What this is really about is using victim status to play the system. He realized that he wasn’t going to beat out Jake Fromm and knew transferring requires sitting on the bench for a year. So he decided that he would use the incident to his advantage and knew that the PC culture we now live in would allow him get away with it.
What’s even more pathetic is that he wouldn’t man up to his reasoning. After being granted the waiver he the proceeded to say: “My overall experience at UGA was fully consistent with UGA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. My sister is a softball player at UGA. I am still close friends with many of my UGA teammates.”....Basically admitting that he had no good reason to receive a waiver.
Eason as you may recall transferred to Washington and received no waiver. Why is Justin more deserving of an opportunity play immediately?
This sets a bad precedent and opens a door for more behavior of this type in the future. But don’t blame Justin Fields. Blame the PC culture we live in that caves to the pressure of victim status when that really isn’t the case.

Was it Black Privilege when Shea Patterson didn’t have to wait? Tate Martell?
The transfer rule is changing and won’t be here much longer.
Fields hasn’t trashed UGA in the media and has never been on record with anything other than praise for the Georgia program. Not his fault that the lawyer trick worked and family hired the attorney. No one in media has used the baseball player thing as anything more than a footnote - the only ones keeping it going are salty UGA fans. Didn’t hurt us in recruiting in 2019 other than Haselwood - who many of you have said you didn’t want anyway and Fields was a net plus in recruiting on the 2018 class.
Fields is a talent and tired of listening to those running him down. Now he gets to play - as long as he isn’t playing my Dawgs, I wish him well - not his fault that Kirby/Chaney handled the rotation poorly.

Shea Patterson:
contends he was lied to by former head coach Hugh Freeze, members of the football staff and athletic department personnel. Patterson believed he was misled during the recruiting process in 2016 regarding the breadth of NCAA violations that eventually included a two-year bowl ban, the first of which was self-imposed.
Tate Martell: hasn’t been granted a waiver
Justin Fields: FORMER UGA athlete said a bad word so I need to play immediately??
What about Jacob Eason? Why is Justin Fields more deserving of a waiver?

The RULE is changing.
Martell’s hasn’t been adjudicated yet.
Eason’s was last year and it’s obvious we are heading towards college free agency.

He will IMO and then the flood gates will open.
He's using a BS excuse because he's a little douche and
didn't want to compete with Fields but he's lawyered up big time and the NCAA almost always loses in court.

It will be interesting to see what happens when a white kid decides to transfer and hires a lawyer.

This is Pandora's box. We've seen a glimpse of it this year with the transfer portal. It'll be open season every year now for players being poached from other teams.

So what’s his reason for requesting a waiver?

I’m almost positive any OM player was allowed to leave due to 2 year bowl ban. Which is why Missouri players can’t leave as it’s just one year ban. This is nothing like Shea

This was best for us, otherwise the dipshits at ESPN would have harped on it all offseason and 2019 season...
We diffused the situation. Good PR move and should help recruiting that we don't look vengeful when shite doesn't work out.
Buddy of mine played golf at OSU was bragging about until I told him he can't read a D for shite, which should be good enough to win the big....

Your buddy should be bragging about it. That’s a huge win for their program that he’s eligible right away.

Go away alter. Time will tell if he pans out. Looking back at his HS career, he just played backyard ball and was oversized compared to the competition.
Extremely unpolished.

He had areas he struggles in. I repeatedly pointed those out throughout the season. I was in the pro-Fields camp. But that is a huge deal for him to be eligible. He becomes the day 1 starter at OSU. Why would they not be happy about that?
