Notes from the janitors brothers cousins uncle about Fall Camp....
Athens, Georgia.
A warm summer breeze moves gently through the magnolias.
Azaleas bloom beside immaculate brick walkways.
Songbirds chirp peacefully beneath the ancient oaks.
And somewhere in the distance—
“WHAT THE BLEEP ARE YOU DOING?!”
Ah.
Kirby Smart has emerged.
Observe him now, moving rapidly across the practice field.
The visor is forward.
The jaw is clenched.
This is not aggression.
This is simply his natural state.
A freshman defensive back has wandered three inches out of position.
A fatal mistake.
Kirby senses weakness immediately.
“GET YOUR BLEEPING EYES RIGHT! YOU WANNA PLAY FOOTBALL OR SELL INSURANCE?!”
The freshman lowers his head.
He has learned.
Nearby, the waterboy remains perfectly still.
Experienced waterboys know that sudden movement attracts Kirby’s attention.
Unfortunately, one bottle is only ninety percent full.
Kirby turns.
He knows.
He always knows.
“WHY IS THAT BOTTLE HALF EMPTY?!”
“It’s ninety percent full, Coach.”
Silence.
A remarkable error.
Never correct the apex predator.
Kirby approaches.
Behind him, sunlight glistens beautifully across Buttes Mehre
A butterfly lands upon an azalea.
“DOES NINETY PERCENT WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS?!”
The butterfly leaves.
Practice continues.
A receiver catches a 60-yard touchdown.
Beautiful throw.
Perfect route.
Kirby explodes.
“HORRIBLE!”
Nobody knows why.
Scientists remain divided.
Perhaps the receiver’s split was wrong.
Perhaps Kirby simply detected happiness.
Either way, the herd immediately begins running again.
And so evening settles peacefully over Athens.
The magnolias sway.
The chapel bell rings.
Students stroll quietly across one of America’s most beautiful campuses.
And from deep within the Georgia practice facility comes the unmistakable call of the dominant male:
“RUN THE BLEEPING PLAY AGAIN!”
Nature is healing.

Damn, disappointed to see that about Wiley.
Hopefully London "starting" is just a thank you from Kirby for putting in the work and Taylor will be getting more snaps...assuming he is as good as Twitter and everyone says he is. Hasn't really done shite yet on the field.

DawgNation reported Juan Gaston dropped a whole lot of body fat and really changed his body. Sounds promising.

This is what I assume he meant. Both Cox and Walker came in as highly rated 5 star OLB/Edge types (like Gibson) and UGA D had them put on weight and change positions to play 5 Tech. Gabe Harris is the same. Mykel Williams is the outlier who went back and forth between Jack and DE mostly only his Jr. year. It obviously worked out well for Walker.

Got to go to practice today, pretty cool to see. Gunner’s mechanics look better, Pugs had a couple of batted down balls in drills, but still looks to be the clear QB2. Would say the D looked better overall, offense was ‘0-30 in passes over 30 yards’ in 9 on 9 drills per Kirby on the mic. Hot day and a lot of guys looked gassed, he was lighting people up all day over the PA.

The vast majority of it was multiple position groups broken out doing drills at the same time, so it was pretty hard to follow over all; very different from, say, the spring game where you’re focused on one scrimmage going on. They were in shells and just popping, nothing was full contact and there was never 11 going against 11. That being said, Gunner made a few good throws and forced a few. I do feel like his mechanics and release look better, but it’s easy to look better when it’s not full contact. Felt like timing of throws (all the QBs, not just GS) and routes could be improved overall. There were a lot of drops and Kirby wasn’t happy on the mic about it. Who stood out, in no particular order: both Frazier and Bowen look healthy and made good cuts with the ball in hand, Gaston looks slimmer, but is a freaking very large human being either way, and was moving great in pass pro drills. Drew Bobo was moving around great also, better than I thought he would be. Greene looks healthy, too. (Fingers crossed all 3 of them stay healthy.) Elijah Griffin looked obviously gassed more than once, especially during sprints at the end, but is going to be a big disruptive force on DL this year, had several pressures. Freaking huge in person also. Chris Cole looks like he was carved out of stone and is very fast laterally.

The practice was fast moving and was just as much about conditioning at this point than fine tuning skills.
Most of Kirby's comments had to do with players being out of position or not finishing the play, downfield blocking in particular.
As the practice continued Kirby made several comments about sweaty hands. Eventually, several players started to cramp up..
Montgomery looked better than Puglisi in my opinion.
Way too early to come to any conclusions but I think Kirby has expected Ryan to be more refined at this point. Time will tell.
The overall pass rush was pretty good. The pressure seemed to be fairly consistent.
From my point of view, Humphries, Taylor and Bell ran the best WR routes.
Although Kirby was on Tre Shields for missing a couple of blocks, his ability to get separation was apparent.
The tight ends made some nice catches in tight coverage. They will need to improve on being able to release cleaner and being able to separate.
Kirby is obviously trying to prompt more leadership from the experienced guys and some of those comments were pretty salty.

I was really wishing I had a roster to look at in several instances, especially with so many new and up and coming guys, but they were pretty adamant about no phones, so I couldn’t pull it up online. They busted a guy in front of us trying to take a video, made him delete it.
