Could the O slow start partly be Beck?

I'm not talking about his performance. But his lack of emotion. He always looks sleepy. Doesn't seem to vocal. To go with that it was either Pate or the On3 guy that said Kirby always talks about composure. Could they be to composed? Would make sense there always seems to be a lack of energy and emotion early on.

Could be…be you can’t tell that solely by his demeanor.

It has nothing, absolutely nothing with all of the starters missing time and having to play a WR at RB. Nothing. Nothing at all.

The issue is execution. Period. Beck has missed some early throws. Receivers have run some routes where they weren’t exactly where he thought they’d be. OL has missed blocks. As the game goes on, we’ve adjusted to the flow and gotten crisper. Also, especially against Auburn, we didn’t feed that 19 guy much, but then we did.

When you see D lineman pushing our guard 3 yards back into the backfield as our RB gets the ball, it typically is not the QBs fault. There could be a scenario when he needs to change a play at the line, but I really think we just have some guys getting beat.
We HAVE to be able to run the ball for our offense to work. If we can clean up some of these stuffs and maybe get someone else to help carry the load for 30 we will be able to do whatever else we want on offense.

The OL has looked decent on pass block and pretty crappy with the run block. I’m tired of seeing 5 OL guys turning to watch a RB get tackled a yard behind the line of scrimmage. UGA’s identity has been control the line of scrimmage, and that has not happened this year so far. When we run successfully, we pass successfully. When we are one dimensional, we struggle.

Every HC, OC, and DB we play knows Bowers is the man, and they all lean his way and look to double or bracket him. That leaves someone else much freer on the field for a 70% passing QB. When they started leaning toward those guys, Bowers went wild in the 2nd half.

Our quarterback is too composed. Damn. Never thought about that angle.

I haven't gone back to verify but, from memory, we consistently start out conservative as frick. Typically run the ball, maybe a lil' bubble screen...short yardage types of plays.

Back in the day, with Stet and Fromm, we would take deep shots early, sometimes even a flea flicker on the first play of the game.

Point being, the slow starts are kind of pre-determined by the scripts of the first drive or two. I get the feeling they don't trust Beck to come out and take shots when he's cold or not yet in rhythm. I'd like to think that that will change as he gets more experience and builds more trust.

Oh, my bad, 1 time in 2017?

Can you explain to us Smart’s offensive philosophy and how it ties to his game philosophy?

You're the incorrigible prick so, please, by all means, YOU tell US. I wouldn't dare overstep the boundaries of your domain, on this completely anonymous message board, and dictate to King Football.

Yeah, well welcome to 1st world football problems. Apparently it comes with all memory loss dating back to each spring game, ungratefulness, complete and total cynicism, utter despair, and dejection at any football play that doesn't end with unicorns crapping golden coins and touchdowns.

God Forbid. Say it ain't so. Pretty sure there's a law of nature or a commandment that forbids that.
