That’s the mantra right? He’ll never change, he’s all about “manball”, values recruiting over coaching, doesn’t want to play modern football, etc.
I’m interested to hear how his grad transfers and new offensive coach fit into your world view.

He is under orders to win an NC. The Titans may very well prove that manball still works in modern football, though they have a QB that throw the heck out of the long ball.
I just believe that it's hard in college to manhandle teams without a passing game.

You can win a national championship with manball, but you have to be as good at it as LSU and others are at airing it out.
There always have been and always will be multiple ways to skin a cat. I’m for whatever we can excel at. Last year, the only thing our offense excelled at was going 3-and-out.

I think the more teams go to air raid offenses the more teams build defenses around that. Then teams that play grown man football run it better.

McKitty has done ALL that (if you watch his film), so it makes perfect sense that we picked him up now.
This will be awesome for Washington too. He's perfect for that same role.

It’s one of the dumbest talking points our rivals and their sympathizers inside our fan base ever adopted. Our offense struggled for one season, Kirby’s 4th season ever as a HC. He never even had time to show he was “too stubborn to change”...just miserable people seeking misery

The first year we had trouble with the offensive production he makes significant changes after the season. If we lose a game next year I can hear it now...

People act like this was a list season, frick, we were runner up in the sec, won the Sugar Bowl and finished 4th.
It was lsu's year and the ghost of Bill fricking Walsh calling plays likely would not have changed that for us.

No, I wouldn't say that. It was a great season, for what we were handed, but I think we're all tired of being the bridesmaid.
This has the opportunity to allow the program to make the jump from Also-Ran to Elite.

Even with elite talent their is alot of timing and luck involved.
Think if tua was 100% and did not lose the ball trotting into the endzone vs LSU. LSU with one loss could have been an issue. Again, timing and luck.

And beat 4 top 15 teams! This to by far was Kirby’s best coaching job so far. We went 11-1 with the attrition and problems we had on offense. One win away from going to the playoffs and a gutsy performance in the Sugar Bowl. No it wasn’t pretty on the offensive side of the ball at all. But we did good with what we had. Now he’s made changes to hopefully make it better. Like Kirby said, “we ain’t going no where”

It goes hand in hand. The bitching from the fans and the criticism from the national media about his archaic offensive approach had a lot to do with him facing the truth. You seem to think that Smart did this based on some kind of self revelation and without influence from the overwhelming criticism he was receiving from all sides. I am glad that he has matured enough to swallow his pride and listen to ,consider , and act on the credible criticisms that were coming in from all fronts. This was a big step for him. I think you have it wrong in wanting to get your lb of flesh from those who helped make this happen. You would have been the same one calling people out if he didn’t do a 180 and stayed with the status quo. The criticizers would have been “negadawgs, sidewalk fans, bitchers,etc.” who didn’t know what they were talking about. This is a really shallow attempt at a gotcha.

The criticism of the offense isn’t the point here, the unfounded assertion that Kirby has ever been too stubborn or unwilling to change is the point. It’s something you continue to imply was the case at some point, despite there being zero proof of it.
