Frankly I rather designate black jerseys before the season for one game so we don't have to deal with all the bitching condensed into a week

I agree 100%. But they are so much better at night and times aren't announced until 2 weeks out tops usually

LSU postures for night games. Maybe we can try it, idk. We need more night games but then we make a big ol' mess and spit on poor little Auburn fans.

I just prefer a bye before the triple option. Or GSU to warm up (well, now they run the AU version and they'd give us a battle for a while too).

FWIW... Charleston Southern runs the triple option just like GT...

From Vandy Coach Mason...
quote:

What we have to understand in playing a Charleston Southern team that plays a triple option attack, we have to be ready to defend the dive, quarterback and pitch. Changing the structure of what that looks like defensively and schematically is a different challenge for us. Discipline and tackling is definitely going to be the name of the game because they get it out in space and do a good job of using the clock and scoring points. We played Army last year and beat Army at Army pretty convincingly so the coaching staff understands how to defend it. It's more about us having a discipline defensive attack and understanding as your structure changes, who has dive, who has quarterback, and who has pitch and then understanding that the play action is going to come off it. When the play action comes, eyes have to be right, our guys have to be in position and you have to able to play top down."

They're 8-3 so it seems like a great tune-up game for the nerds. Richt mighta actually scheduled them on purpose...

During Florida's 2000 SEC Championship season, they got pummelled by underdog Miss. State. In 2003 when LSU won the SEC/MNC, they lost to an 8-5 underdog Florida team. In 2007, they lost to 8-5 underdog Kentucky and 8-5 underdog Arkansas. In 2008, Florida's SECC/MNC lost to an underdog Ole Miss team that was coming off ugly losses to Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. They also beat South Carolina in 2006 due to a blocked field goal by Jarvis Moss, one of several players who would never have been on the field under UGA rules.

Those are just a few of many examples of conference/national champions that lose games everyone thought they should win. It's especially common in the SEC because every team manages to get some very good athletes. Everyone thought Florida was a gimme this year, but they were loaded with athletes who could have gone anywhere in the country. A bad game, a slight letdown after several tough games, or just a bad break/injury, against a schedule full of great athletes can cause a loss, except in some ideal world you have constructed in your head.

If they're a triple option like the quote above indicates, then he/McGarity definitely scheduled them this weekend for a reason.

Absolutely. Sometimes it would appear that we do actually know what we're doing.

Funny, I've posted this exact thing in previous years when CMR was taking heat for the lack of MNCs won; yet I never recall the argument ending so easily.

How can you possibly argue that we got fricked over in 2002 and 2005. In 2002, we blew it in Jax vs an awful UF team. Miami and OSU were undefeated. In 2005, USC and Texas started the season 1 and 2, both went undefeated and absolutely steamrolled everything in their path. We lost twice and wouldn't have beaten either of those teams anyways.

I'll give you 2007. That was some bullshite

We didn't get "fricked over" in any of those years. However, it is absolutely true that we didn't get the luck from the rest of the country that other teams have gotten.

13 AU, 11 ua, 08 uf, 07 lsu, 06 uf, 03 lsu, and 06 uf all lost at least once but still played for a title because they had help from others ahead of them losing. In 02 we would've been ranked 2nd had we gone undefeated, but we lost our shot and 2 undefeateds went ahead. 05 we lost 2 games in a row and had 2 dominant powerhouses go undefeated. 07 we didn't win our division and lost to 2 bad teams.

We didn't get the lucky breaks others got, but we didn't get "fricked over".

lsu won their division...only difference there..but how is it that Bama can not even win their division, and skip straight on to the NCG?

UGA has gotten fricked...and has done plenty of bed wetting too...point is...Mike Ridge is not the only one at fault for our lack of NC's....yet some people here want him fired, and they want to go on that search for the new "it" guy, like an unproven coordinator that is the hot commondity, and then those same people will bitch when we end up a dupmster fire like Tenn and UF...sustainment vs. the quick strike.....that is what i prefer.....give me CMR all day every day and twice on Sunday...does he make mistakes?...hell yes...do i cuss him during games?...hell yes....but the sustainment of the program for such an extended period of time...there is something to be said for that...

because they only had 1 loss, not 2, and their only competition to go to the game, oklahoma state, lost to an unranked, sub .500 team.

In 07, Ohio State was in regardless, that much is clear. The big debate was who would meet them, which means our direct competition was LSU.

The circumstances are completely different. In 2011 if there was some random team that was #1 and bama/lsu were fighting for the 2nd spot, lsu would have gone.

quote:

UGA has gotten fricked

how? the instant you lose a game you're no longer fricked, since you need other people losing to help you out.

WG's comment was "We didn't win our division and lost to 2 bad teams"

2011 Bama did not win their division and loss to one very good (#1) team. Very different than not winning the division and losing to two unranked teams. In 2007, we lost to two teams who finished 15-10.

UGA has not been screwed out of any BCS Natty imo. We only earn the right to complain if we take care of business all season long, and we haven't done that as far as the national picture is concerned, in the BCS era. Same story this year - IF we win out and don't make the playoffs, we do not have room to complain because of who we lost to this year.

UGA got lucky in 02 and shite the bed that same night. UGA was undefeated but hopelessly behind other undefeated teams who appeared to be on cruise control at the time UGA played UF (night game/gator rape/Terrence Edwards). That day before UGA played, VT and a few others in front of UGA lost, opening the lane for UGA to slide in to a MNC Game appearance, pending their winning out.

Richt promptly shite the bed against Zook and company.

One door opens (luck) and Richt shits the bed and slams it back shut. Ghosts live behind closed door, yo.

It's nothing new. Don't point out other's luck without acknowledging UGA's. It's there.

I am not sure the blackout will have the same affect at noon. If we find our way into the Dome, I am all for it.

Even though the Bees returned a bunch of tickets, this game is the biggest of the year for them.

Ark/Mizz game is that Friday. We will know for certain before Tech if we are going to Dome. I worry we will either be hyped because we are or let down because we aren't.

There is precedent for a day "blackout" of sorts: Meyer beat the everloving shite out of us when we wore our black helmets and pants in Jax one year.

I was one of the few UGA fans still in the stadium at the start of the fourth quarter.

The fake juice didn't work, and Meyer didn't forget the team rushing the field the year before. Bad times. Bad...
