I figured I was wasting my time. Especially, when no one raised a clinched fist of recognition when the Gus Fring segment opened up with the camera close-up following the yellow line in his parking lot.....connecting his and mike's trajectories like it does over and over and over again. (note that he was talking to Madrigal lady about the Mike-going-rogue issue on the phone when the yellow line transition appeared)

Anyway, I actually already broke down this episode (and the next one) a few months ago based solely on the teaser photos released before the season started.

Hang on a minute and practice raising a clenched fist out of recognition in the meantime. I'm going to have to dig some old stuff up for this face melt.

Oh I absolutely raised my clinched fist in that scene. But I was on a time-out so I couldn't do it, internetly speaking.

Check my post history... the first post I made after my suspension was lifted was to bump this thread and talk about the lines.

From early June when the below Season 4 teaser photo was released: LINK.....

quote:

OK, just to finish analyzing the official photo that came with the release date we need to get to 3rd and final component....

3) The extremely bright parking garage revealed behind Jimmy and shadow Saul through the now fully-open BCS trademark window blind Lines....

-Well, where have we seen this garage before?
-the one with all the concrete perspective Lines above
-showing that you are on a lower level
-beneath something
-at the bottom of something

quote:

-That's right. It's where Mike works.
-At the bottom.
-In the UNDER world
-where he controls that gate leading in or out.

-So, basically the superbright garage revealed through the now open Lines
-symbolizes the Season 4 further convergence of Saul and Mike
-as Saul walks out of the office door into a world he can never escape (except through witness relocation)
-and somethings will happen to them both
-to make them Break further and permanently Bad
-together

Ha ha ha ha . You see now??

-So, the bizarrely located copier store with all the Mike parking garage perspective Line imagery visible out the front windows through the BCS blind lines
-is the symbolic further convergence of Mike and Saul's trajectory lines

-HOW do they converge?

-Well, they converge through this location in what we'll call for now "The Great Figurine Heist"

-Remember the figurine in the copier store that caught Saul's eye?
-(we'll skip over where that thing first appeared in season 3 for now, but)
-Remember when Saul got up in middle of night and looked the figurine up on e-bay?

-and do you remember who he called about "a job" immdediately afterwards and left a giddy voice mail??

-that's right
-He called Mike

-then in the preview for the next episode, there's flashlights and burglary going down in the copier store with all the Mike parking garage imagery
-so we can assume, Mike and Saul are on a caper together
-"The Great Figurine Heist"

-You see?

-trajectory line convergence to where we know they end up

-i'll try to tie up some other loose ends later, but I have to go sweat my balls off right now

I just binge watched the series. It took me about 2 weeks once I got started. I got caught up last night. Great show. I really like the pacing and way they setup all the scenes. The best character the series introduced was Chuck IMO. I can't believe Michael McKean didn't get nominated for an Emmy.

I would have to disagree but I’v Never seen breaking bad so all of the characters were new introductions to me.

I like the crooked vet. I like Jimmy’s old rascal buddy from back east. I like the chicken restaurant owner. I like the baseball card guy/crooked pharmacist. I really like Howard’s character. The perfect smug robotic antagonist who actually isn’t the bad guy. Mike. Ernesto. The other schmuck prosecutor at the courthouse. The Kettleman’s.

There really are no bad characters, they are all perfectly written, casted, and acted. And filmed.

I haven’t ever really been a TV person.

I only got into BCS because I was on a business trip flipping through channels in a hotel and there was a BB marathon I stopped on, randomly, and there were back to back episodes that heavily featured Saul. I thought he was a great character.

Fast forward about six months, my wife is watching some shite on AMC and this promo comes on for BCS new series and then decided to mark my calendar to tune in and was instantly hooked, of course.

I have tried to binge watch BB since then but Im only a few episodes into season 1. It’s great, what little I’ve seen, but timing has yet to work out for binging. And from what I understand it all ends badly so that puts a damper on my motivation.

I like you rig, but you are making a drastic mistake by not watching it. You like the saul character, you like the show BCS...it's literally not possible for you to not like BB. And I know it's evolved into a meme and a family guy joke, but for real, it's one of the best shows ever put onto network television. There is literally no downside to watching it. You need to watch it.

My thoughts on Breaking Bad and "binge-watching" have changed big time.

This past winter, I got the black plague death flu for Christmas and tried re-watching BB to endure the time. But what I found is BB isn't half as good as I remember..

For one, the shite is dated as hell now with all the Jessie Pinkman and company cringe-worthy white kid poser hip-hop pretender idiocy (yo, yo, yo, beeotch, etc) .....but also, i realize i fricking hate walter white. The character and the actor too. And the entire thing got drawn out way too far

As far as binge-watching, I signed up for the netflix for the sole-purpose of watching BB for free, and it took me about 2 months to get through it. Loved it. And I'm thanful for that. Because I never would have watched it all otherwise. And it defeintely melted my face off

That being said. Binge watching anything is about as healthy for your brain as heffing gasoline and glue vapors while smoking heroine crack. And Better Call Saul is so detail saturated and OCD, that if you are binge-watching it, you are missing the whole point anyway.

It may be a prequel, but it comes after BB in real life....and these writers etc have hit their stride. It's buried with code and face-melters if you take the time to look. I promise you.

That reminds me...

Someone needs to watch the movie "White Heat" and give a synopsis. I've seen Jaws 3 in 3D, but not White Heat. ANd clearly those two were about to be on the movie channel for a reason right before Saul tapped that arse.

Kim tapped Saul’s arse.

I’ve been in that situation, after my brother’s funeral after an untimely death in a big beautiful church, all the handshakes and sorry for your losses etc, and you just want to be left alone but you have to play the game and draw on your harlequin face, thank you thank you thank you, and then at the afterwake party whatever, i swear to God there is some dna in women that makes them want to frick you. I have a theory about it. It’s when you want them the least, which makes them want you more.

Jimmy didn’t need Kim at that moment. She needed him.

Absolutely. I agree 100%. But, let’s stop for a minute and think about how diabolical and fricked up that is....

Saul clearly understands better than anyone that humans are hackable, right? We’ve watched three seasons of him honing his skills at manipulating people, and even now, when he tells Kim he’s out looking for jobs and picking up Thai food with his oh-so-vulnerable sad-guy routine, we see that he really isn’t so sad and vulnerable at all when he’s out conning parking garage copier businesses and hacking peoples emotions for sport. Or practice. Or whatever the hell hes doing which definitely isn’t what he told Kim he’s doing.

My point is this though.... Where do Saul’s manipulations begin and end? Is he able to turn it off with Kim? Or is he manipulating her on some level as well?

I think that’s what we’re being set up for.

Kims Emmy-winning performance when she destroyed Howard for Saul, and the empathy thing you point out with the arse-tapping are showing us the depth of her love for Saul. She may even be realizing it herself for first time how deep she’s in based on the recent events........But, that is the thing we have to remember!!......The recent events are all diabolical results of Sauls manipulations of others. Manipulations not directly aimed at manipulating Kim, but which are doing so indirectly and substantially. And to Saul’s benefit.

I guess based on the premise of this show, I’m just not buying Sauls sad guy vulnerability con routine he’s pulling on Kim. Maybe he’s not even conscious of the fact that he’s conning her. Or maybe, it’s a necessary con within the larger con. But, he’s definitely conning her.

I think that’s where this is all leading. Kim will eventually learn somehow about Saul meeting with HHM’s insurance company. Or something that shows her how Chuck, Howard, and herself have been so deeply and callously and cruelly manipulated. And that’s when she leaves. For good.

The final episode of BB was awesome. I never watched the series until it was over. The first episode I ever watched was the final episode. I spent the next two months watching one episode every night to the end.

BB was great but, unlike Twin Peaks, I don't think I could watch it over and over with the same appreciation.
