first, I don't steal other people's theories. Second, there's no way your theories are any dumber than some on the M/TV board.

I'm all ears to hear your thoughts. Obviously doesn't mean I'll agree with your theories but I'd like to hear them nonetheless.

You don’t understand. Or maybe I misspoke.

When a theory is proven correct over and over it is no longer a theory anymore. It is fact.

In Season 3, the lines were mostly about trajectories, pathways, and connections between the two series. From what Ive seen in the previews so far, it’s now time for lines to be crossed. I’m thinking we may see another familiar face , or at least the hinting of one, in the fourth black and white Gene opener tonight.

Weird episode. Sad.

Disagree. Inevitably, they had a lot of clean-up to do from the finale, but overall this one was all about setting tones and introducing the new themes. Let's go....

CROSSING LINES, AND DARKNESS FALLS

-these are the two clear themes of Season 4

I) Crossing LInes (Black and white Gene line trajectory)

-so, attemtping to walk out of emergency room, a very large obvious sign on the ER waiting room door says....

-"To protect patient confidentiality, please stay behind LINE"

-Read that line 4 or 5 times

-you see?

-Gene is an anon living in an illegal underground version of the witness relocation protection program, complete with illegal ss# and drivers licenses

-But, as we learned last night, the Gene character has now crossed a line. A line where his confidentiality is now under threat. As symbolized by the midwestern milktoast nurse calling him back and forth over the hyper-symbolic confidentiality line for what turns out to be a typo

-Now is his confidentiality under threat by his own paranoia? Or has someone(s) found him?

-I guess we have to wait and see

-either way, the line is crossed

theres more, hang on

II) Crossing Lines (Saul shock/mourning/grieving phase)

-ok, so it might have seemed like not much happened last night. But, nothing could be further from the truth...

-we've Crossed the line over into a whole new show

-alright, sitting outside the charred remains of Chucks house, Saul (yes Saul, not Jimmy. Because Jimmy is dead) Saul sits on a line-covered park bench with a yellow crime scene ribbon forming a line around Chuck's house in the background.

-(You may remember I talked a lot about how the yellow lines were a major theme in in Season 3. In the form of the yellow highway center lines Mike always followed which eventually led him to Gus Fring. When they literally met face to face for first time each standing on the yellow line. Ha ha, nobody ever listens! jfc. Also, there was the part when Kim veered off the yellow lines when she fell asleep and symbolically almost went off a cliff. Anyways, so yellow lines are a pretty big deal and you should stop and pay attention when you see them in this show...)

-So, what did the yellow line behind Saul say last night?...

-"Police LINE: Do not cross"

-Read it 4 or 5 times slowly.

-And so, in Saul's conversation with Kim, we learn that he has literally crossed that line and been in the backyard (where he finds the appliances microwave etc letting him piece together Chuck's electrical allergy relapse.)

-but later, we also learn that Saul has crossed another, much more important and crucial line. A line he can never come back from. When after the excruciating slow play where we are duped into feeling sorry for Saul......only to find out that Saul killed his brother. And that he is happy about it to the point of whistleing. And that he's happy to let Howard carry the false burden the rest of his days. aka Pure Evil.

-and we know from Breaking Bad that Saul turns to a life of crime...………."POLICE LINE: DO NOT CROSS!!!!!" Get it now? You're welcome.

-So, the last parts of Jimmy are dead when he crossed the line. And Saul is born. And now we get to watch him perfect his schister trade and find out how he became the expert at it we see in BB. Exciting times! Although, this means we also have to watch him ruin Kim. Who is the Light to Saul's new found total Darkness. WHich leads us to....

DARKNESS FALLS

-so this is the other main theme that will continue to play out. And its nothing obscure or hidden anymore. Darkness is falling in case nobody's notices.

-Anyway, everyone loves Kim, right?. She is the Light. But we know by way of this being a prequel that there is no room for her kind of Light in the Darkness to come.

-you may also recall at this point if you want how I pointed out last year the 3 films on the Blcokbuster shelf in front of Kim that foreshadow the wrap-up of the show. THis was right before her doritoes and movies recovery fest after her car accident when she Crossed The Line.

-one of the movies was titled "Darkness Falls" and i asked "What happens to Kim when Darkness Falls?"

-Well, here we are.

-And here we go.

-Goodby Kim. Sianara

-even the overall colors of the show were dark as frick last night.

Random stuff:

-anybody else get duped by the Walter White fake-out??? When they showed the warehouse worker coming out and helping bike chain kid? So awesome. They did the shot from far away and just out of focus enough to make you second-guess what you were seeing because some of the background didn't compute. Genius.

-also, was a background line fest as usual. SO awesome.

-and there was scene when Saul stared deliberately at the power LINES at Chucks. Then later, there was a scene where Nacho stared deliberately at the power lines in his intro scene. Haven't figured it out. Still percolating.

-finally, I thought the coolest part was how they let Mike take over the comedy relief role that Saul usually provides...…. Saul locked in to natural stages of mourning and grief wasn't available for this major ingredient of the show, so they let Mike run around signing cat birthday cards that say "Have a Prrrrrrrfect Day" and doing other totally out-of-character comedy bits. Very cool.

I actually like it better than Breaking Bad.

I'm probably going to wait until the season is done so I can watch it all at once.

Netflix has spoiled me to the point I can't watch network tv at all anymore.

I agree on all three counts. Bingeing is like reading a novel to me....watching network TV is like going to a nut thumping. The last network series not on HBO or Showrime I tried to watch was blacklist....pretty good show but they ran reruns every other week. Completely lost interest.

also a slight hijack here, but Ozark season 2 comes out later this month as well.

I second this emotion. Ozark is good. Really good.

While we are bringing up other stuff, if you are not familiar with McMafia, it is worth a watch. Slow starting, but is really, really good with splashes of sudden violence.

No comments about the last episode?

Lines everywhere, I was hoping JD would explain them to me.

Also, does the crooked veterinarian come back this season?

SPOILER ALERT--------

spoiler below......

Why was it necessary to kill the guy at the end, and why did they have to do that to me right before bed?
