"In addition, according to a report from 247Sports’ Jake Rowe, Cleveland is expected to miss a minimum of four weeks with the injury."

That really sucks. Will be out for the LSU game.

Not good but at least he'll be back for AU and UF...let's hope Thomas is ready to go for LSU.

How can he have a broken fibula but not require surgery or have to wear a cast? Is it because the larger tibia stabilizes it?

I would guess it's a hairline fracture since it's not requiring surgery or cast.

At least it's not a guaranteed season injury.

Based on what it looked like, 4 weeks is good news. Will have him back at end of season and build more depth in the process.

Could have been far worse. I guess from that standpoint we're lucky.

There were lots of rumors yesterday that it was a tibia fracture. If this report is correct, it's great news.

Fibula fx often heals without surgery. Immobilization and no weight bearing

Correct. It’s a non weight barring bone.

I’ve broken my fibula and the worst part is you just can’t run. Can walk around pretty ok but running hurts like a bitch

Wonder if Shaffer will get the nod next week? Great opportunity to go another direction and reward some of these stud recruits if they've been practicing well and Kirby wants to go that route.

How many promising seasons that are derailed by injuries can one team have.... this sucks.

I think it's going to be Shaffer or Trey Hill. Shaffer has been the second guy in at Cleveland's spot this year but Hill has also been playing some guard and center.

Salyer was a bit higher rated recruit than Hill but I don't think he played at all against Missouri. Seems similar to the situation with Shaffer and Netori Johnson: If I recall, Johnson was the higher rated yet Shaffer seems to have progressed more rapidly.

It happens. Alabama had defensive players dropping like flies last year, but they still managed to win it all. Got to have quality replacements ready to go in case shite hits the fan.

Yep. My son was an offensive lineman in high school. As a Junior, he had the same injury. Hairline fibula break. Same way, too...got rolled up by a RB while making a block.

They put a boot on it and told him to drink lots of milk and take calcium supplements. In 3 weeks, he was good to go. No surgery.
