TE is arguably the hardest position in football to transition from HS to college and college to NFL.

I thought he was injured in camp and wasn't full recovered until about the 5th game.

Between that and horrible QB play

Quality of QB play had nothing to do with him being injured. He couldn't catch passes if he wasn't in the game.

He might, and I would absolutely take him. But with Washington and Bowers....should we really tie up another spot for a position that we have shown we don't use effectively in the passing game?

I am torn on him. We have about three spots left and a ton of good players out there. Even if we somehow stretch it out to 5 spots we can't get all the players we are needing(wanting).

You don't turn down an Arik Gilbert type of player. We have a new OC that I feel very confident in being able to scheme the TE's the ball. Daniels is showing he can make the right reads and distribute it as well.

Yep, just look at the impact Kyle Pitts is having for Florida. A good OC schemes to get the ball in the hands of his best playmakers.

And with a guy like that it isn't exactly difficult. He can play split, slot, flanker, flex. He's a capable blocker. The guys a 1st rounder in any program, and Georgia can air it out as well.

Plus I can get to Athens from Marietta in just over an hour. Honestly, what is he waiting for? Just show up at practice already.

Well he has officially opted out. Probably will hit the portal shortly.

edit: coach o says he thinks there's a chance he returns next season, but I don't see it.

He is big and tall. I don't know how fast he is, but if he can get open line him up anywhere that you can get the ball to him. He doesn't have to line up on the tackle.

It did, but it's back and really good this time around. I'd recommend checking it out. Tons of good info from Americus and 2 others "in the know".

Absolutely. I get that. I guess I am still having flashbacks on Nauta. I get that we have a different OC....but it is kind of like people expecting a bad loss because of Richt. You know you have somebody new, but you worry about it anyway.

He looked really good against Alabama. he caught the ball well and ran well. I mean, the talent is there.

A dominant TE is very valuable, and can change a game. I would like to see him in the fold!

Out of curiosity...I am seeing we have three spots left. If we take Gilbert who do we give up between the following:

Sorey
Arnold
Masson Smith
Foreman
Donovan Edwards
Elijah Jeudy

I get that some of these won't pick Georgia and that will take care of themselves. But with two slots left who do we concentrate on and who do we back off?

I am hearing rumors that Sorey is a silent, so that would leave one slot if we take Gilbert.

He had 5 catches for 29 yards. This was his biggest impact on the game:

Gilbert is a take above all of these IMO. He’s a proven commodity.

I’d take Sorey and Smith and work on making room for Edwards and Arnold

ETA: I think Foreman is a long shot so not including him.
