If we were to get Gilbert it’d be foolish to use him like a traditional tight end. He’s a hybrid. Use him like Pitts

If we do get Gilbert, Monken needs to go watch old Saints tape to see how they used Jimmy Graham and do that.

The articles says that Gilbert missed practice Monday, but we shall see. Would be money to get a Pitts like player running around.

I really felt at the time we we’re screwing up passing on BJ Ojulari.

It was between him and MJ Sherman, and we already had a commitment from Sherman. That said, with what we are losing picking BJ up would be a sweet pickup if we can fit him in.

I never understand the constant mantra on there to throw to the tight end more. And then, throw the ball to Pickens more, and then throw to our young receivers more, and then more toss sweeps. There are only so many plays and each target takes from another. Tight ends are IMO blockers first, possession receivers second, and change up receivers last, especially in the red zone. I love talented TEs that can get open and provide options, but if a WE is open deep or a speedster in the flats, that's my preference.

The rant already saying LSU turning UGA in for "tampering"

Jeez, their rant is a disaster. I did not know it was that bad over there. They want Coach O to get the frick out.

you think guys like Pitts/Kelcey/Gronk need to block more? Freaks like Arik are very difficult to matchup with. We all think the same of Washington but have yet to see him used that way

Honestly, I would play Arik at slot as fast as he is he would be my big slot. A formation of Pinkens at the X, Washington at the H, Arik at the Y, and Burton at Z would be a matchup nightmare and fun to watch. 6'3, 6'8, 6'5 good luck.

Having that kind of size and athleticism from multiple targets in the red zone is a QB's dream.

I'll believe Gilbert when I see it. He looked pretty juiced against Bama this past week. Then again, LSU is a dumpster fire right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was looking elsewhere.

Tre McKitty took all of his targets.

Gilbert and Washington are both matchup nightmares but for different reasons.

They both will be stars in the next few years.

I'm mad that we didn't use McKitty at all. The dude is really good - he's big and he can move.

I saw that he is going to the senior bowl, does that mean he isn't eligible to return?

I thought he was injured in camp and wasn't full recovered until about the 5th game.

Kirby is king at squandering top offensive talent. It's beyond maddening.

We still won't throw the ball to him...he's a tight end aka blocker.

Kirby has hired coordinators with basically no offensive philosophy up until this year. I hate to say "next year", but if Monken & JT stay, our offense could be very exciting.

JFC... We're saying because Darnell Washington hasn't gotten enough targets as a freshman that Kirby is squandering him? He was targeted several times earlier this season... Bennett/Mathis just weren't accurate at all. JT's had 2 games to pass the ball, and only one of them did we even throw the ball much at all. I'll reserve judgement on Kirby's use or lack of use on DW until I get a whole season with a QB that can at least hit water falling out of a boat.

Kirby's stubbornness offensively is well documented prior to 2020. Continuing to act as though he's somehow holding the offense back intentionally when it's pretty clear that the limitations this year were due to QB capability and availability is just intellectually dishonest. If we see the same shite as 2019 in 2021, then fine... criticize away... but it would appear that on the surface, Kirby has learned and attempted to adapt. It just happened in the worst fricking year to happen to college sports in quite some time.
