Defending SEC Champs (a bad officiating call away from NC)
Averaging 43 ppg

I can’t tell with some of the bitching I’m reading. Sum o y’all done got spoilt alla sudden. Two seasons ago we were getting handled by Vandy and Tech.

I feel like it's a huge indicator of how this program has turned around. Somehow, all that in your OP isn't enough anymore.

It’s also weird to see us playing so sloppy but winning by an average margin of victory of 30.2 pts. It’s like Mark Richt football with Alabama results and I’m not sure if we know how to process that

Offense: 35th nationally, 5th in SEC
Defense: 6th nationally, 1st in SEC

Statistically, I think we're in a good spot. But the exciting thing is this team still feels young and raw. Who knows what this team will look like in a couple of months?

I'm pumped about 2019 and 2020, because I feel like this team has a ton of young players who are starting to mature and will be forced to mature more over the course of this season, but there's no way you can look at the last two games and say you're thoroughly impressed with this team.

I still think we'll win 10 games, but I haven't seen anything that sells me on this team being in any way as good as 2017 or that sells me on them being real national championship contenders. They can certainly surprise me, and I hope they do, but at this point it looks like a lot of growing pains.

I think, though, that those pains will pay off in a big way down the line.

If you knew nothing about our team and just read our board, you would think we were 2-3.

We won by 26 points yesterday in a game we were favored by 32. Last week, we won a game by 14 in a game we were favored by 14.

And yet some people are upset

I think everyone is just anxious because what lies ahead. A team this young isn't going perfect and it almost feels like they are bored which is scary for us because if they dont snap out of it we will lose at LSU and maybe at Kentucky. It's scary for the other teams cause Georgia is still talented enough to win playing uninspired by 3+TDs. The switch gets flipped and stays on all game it'll be really really ugly for the other team.

100% agree, it looks to just be youth and inexperience that is hurting us. Lets just beat UF, Auburn, and Tech and I will call it a successful season. (obviously no losses to our cupcake games)

Go back and reread my OP. Then read it again and again until you're ready to come off the ledge.

Our average margin of victory is over 30 pts, and we've played two SEC road games. If that's not good enough for you, after replacing the players we did from '17, I don't know what to tell you.

You must be pretty damn good at your line of work to have that high of a standard.

Exactly, we're playing sloppy and not putting our foot on teams throats. It's obvious we aren't as good as last year but it's not our losses on defense that are hurting us. It's our offense not improving with a 2nd year QB and supposedly good O-line. Our WRs played bad yesterday but overall they're under utilized because of QB/O-line play.

This team has looked ok against crap teams like Tennessee and Mizzou. If we play this poorly we could lose any of the 4 game against @LSU/UF/@UK/AU. I see our defense being elite again by the EoS, I expected our offense to be elite but unless we can get some 100yd rushers and good deep balls we're not gonna beat those 4 and then we'll lose by 26 to Bama.

5-0 but who have we played? #2 in the AP doesn't mean anything. Defending SEC champs doesn't mean jack this year. The officials didn't screw us out of a NC title, poor coaching did. If you take our D/ST scores you clearly see our offense is struggling to be what it should be. It's going to be a wake up call when we can't score more than 20 on LSU then lose. Especially after Fields is thrown in for no reason and fails to make a pass or is picked off after staring down a receiver.

in a way we as a fanbase are in a new place we are not used to..we have a team that is winning at an elitely successful rate, but we are used to a team that might have lost 2 games by now in the past..if any of you that are watching this current team is "happy" with the play, you are not watching what i'm watching, but under the current staff and players we are UNDEFEATED and are slowly improving with each quarter of play. AND we have a current staff that expects us fans to have high expectations along with them so no more "arena" comments and the other BS we used to hear before. this is fun. in addition we are being challenged mush earlier this season than last year and I think that will have a positive effect for the program.

I’m very happy to be where we are but also know that we need to be better to have a chance with the teams we have coming up or to have a chance should we make it into the SECCG.

CKS knows it too.

The loss of Zeus and now Ben Cleveland are weighing heavily. I said once before that losing him meant we may not have a guy for the “bruiser” role and I still think that holds true. Swift could carry that load if he were 100%, but he’s clearly not. He, Holyfield and Herrien (and Cook) are really all variations of Sony and not Chubb. We’re missing our Chubb/Gurley and our OL is not and has not been healthy all at once. We’re going to continue to struggle offensively if our QB doesn’t start stretching the field a bit. I’m also surprised the D-Rob hasn’t been utilized more than he has and I wonder if our lack of a passing game thus far has been part of just playing “vanilla” as long as we can get away with it.

We have the players to hang with anyone. We just have to clean up our sloppiness and play more disciplined. If we can get that done rather quickly we’ll be ok.

I gave you an upvote before I read this. You have no way to know he would do that. The times he’s been allowed to throw, he’s done well. Nothing he has shown us should warrant your thought process.

That's all great. But we've played weak to marginal opponents this year.

The wins and stats are there because of the level of competition. But we're not passing the eyeball test in how we've played in some of those games.

I think people expected us to pick up where we left off last year due to the supposedly best offensive line in the country, a more experienced quarterback, and a stable of great receivers. Thus far, the running game that Smart likes to rely on to dominate opponents isn't as good as last year and it's apparent. We also seem to be more inconsistent overall.

Bottom line, we can all be happy about 5-0 and how far we've come since Richt, but I won't be convinced this is a top 4/playoff caliber team unless we beat a team that's closer in talent level. A win in Death Valley would silence most of the critics.

There are about 128 not teams in NCAA Division I FBS football, not named Bama, who would trade places with us.
