This is telling.
Yes, we are a good team.
No, I don't think we are a championship level team.
Here's why:
From my perspective we lost more championship level players on defense than offense from last season. As such, I expected the offense to be better than the defense this season. Clearly that is not the case.

Our offense is very inconsistent. Fromm still hasn't learned to dump the ball out of bounds when a sack is impending. Instead he just stands there and takes big hits for a 10 yard loss. This isn't going to cut it against championship level teams.

Fromm has definitely improved over last season in terms of working through his progression but we still have too many telegraphed plays where everyone in the stadium can see where the ball is going. This leads to my next observation.

Our offense is too often predictable. Our offensive line is not as good at this point as I had hoped so we need to be passing when they expect us to run and running when they expect us to pass. In other words this offense will need great balance to be successful and I'm sure that's what Kirby is shooting for.

This team is still way too undisciplined compared to a Saban level team. Our last 3 games have reminded me way too much of the undisciplined CMR teams with overly aggressive players committing dumbass penalties and stupid stuff like dropping the ball as you approach the endzone. sheesh I do like the way Kirby got in that guys face and made him watch the replay of that dumb personal foul. These guys need to get their heads out of the asses and get focused on precision execution in the game. 2 times we had UT stopped cold and dumb penalties led to a TD. If you give even a shitty team like UT enough chances, sooner a later even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

Our new standard is to compete with - and eventually overtake - Bama. Isn't that what everyone wanted? And isn't that Kirby's goal, too?

Right now, for whatever reasons, this team doesn't look as dominant as it should. We'll know the program has reached its target when year after year, there are at best three or four teams in the country that can hope to be competitive in a game against us.

My only hope is that we have been holding back innovation on offense for more competitive opponents.

I don’t think the problem is being 5-0, ranked #2, being the defending SEC champs, or almost winning a NC last year.

The problem is THIS year THIS team isn’t playing close to their potential. Yes, UGA lost a lot of guys last year and most fans I know believed this year would be a drop off from last year. But it’s frustrating as hell to watch THIS team, not play to their potential. We haven’t played a complete game all year. We looked good against South Carolina but still had a lot of mistakes. But we have taken a step back every week since instead of getting better and playing more crisp. UGA can’t affors to play LSU or Auburn like yesterday or against Mizziou.

I gave you an upvote before I read this. You have no way to know he would do that. The times he’s been allowed to throw, he’s done well. Nothing he has shown us should warrant your thought process.

This is the thought process of every anti-Fields, pro-Fromm guy on this board. It's like they don't even watch the games.

Everyone is happy where we are, but not happy how we've played. Our passing game is not opened up like Smart said he wanted. Fromm is dinking and dunking and using the passing game like an extension of the running game. It's just maddening.

If you knew nothing about our team and just read our board, you would think we were 2-3.

We might be if we played the bottom half of our schedule first this year.

Just saw the updated coaches poll. They think we’re the #2 team in the country. Since I’m no expert, I m going with the guys that are. We’re behind Bama because Nick’s had a little more time at it than Kirby’s had. I think Kirby catches up next year. But I’m going to enjoy the ride this year with the realization that we’re not likely to win it all......just yet.

What ledge? The ledge of realism? We look like shite but still kicking the shite out of shitty teams. Can’t beat the good teams looking like shite. Maybe I’ll call a radio station and cry about it since I’m “on the ledge”

What exactly is maddening?
Specifically

passing QBs in conference play

Humble pie is coming unless we make some adjustments. LSU, Auburn, and Kentucky will give the Dawgs problems. I am not impressed with Chaney at all this year! Why change QBs 6 different times during the game?

Also missed a FG which is rare these days, and UTs 2 TDs were out of position, lackadaisical play.

Plus I think UT is improving every week, they absolutely killed themselves against UF. The dirterence was 26 points as well, but UT gave it away 6 times to the gators, UGA just got one take away.

We are fricked as fans.

If we play Fromm, then we complain about not getting reps for our backup.

If we play Fromm and get Fields out there in mopup, then we complain about not getting meaningful reps.

If we mix up series between the two quarterbacks, then we aren't giving a QB an opportunity to get into a rhythm.

We are fricked.

I did the stats for conference play. I referenced that for the link so that you would know it included Scar and Mizzou.

If you want their total stats including any OOC cupcakes, the results are about the same.
Here you go.
qb stats ranked for all games.

Are we a Championship team? Interesting question that I’ve given a little thought. Are we currently a top 5 or 6 team? I think we are. Bama looks better. Ohio State looks to be a playoff team. Other than those two, I think Georgia is better or just as good as Clemson and Oklahoma. Can we lose to LSU or Auburn, yes but I think we are a better all around team than both.
Another positive is this Georgia team will improve. We improved last year. We were a much different team from the SEC CG on than early on. I don’t think our offense is anywhere close to its potential. I also think the defense is improving especially the secondary.

Dawgs have been playing undisciplined football. Just imagine when this team gets healthy and discipline. We may be without Simmons and Big Ben for a few weeks. Andrew Thomas ankle should be better for the LSU game and Swift is progressing, looked good on those 2 power TD runs. I don't see no reason we don't hold on to the #2 ranking and go to the SECCG undefeated.

Good news for all of us....we get to find out what this team is made out of in 2 weeks at LSU. These guys have 2 more weeks to try and pull it together as that game will be our first true test.

But so far no...we have not looked the part at all. Undisciplined penalties, out of position on defense, poor pass protect and average running game. We are young and shite can turn around but...imo I'm not sure we get there before we get an L. In fact , that might be what the team needs.

Yeah..they looked pretty damn mean last night. I think their D Line and pass rush is going to give us all kinds of trouble.

It’s also weird to see us playing so sloppy but winning by an average margin of victory of 30.2 pts. It’s like Mark Richt football with Alabama results and I’m not sure if we know how to process that

Yup. That coupled with the fact that Bama has Tua and we know even with all our talent it will take a perfect game for us to beat them has everyone worried.

Still have to beat LSU and Kentucky and Florida no longer look like a cakewalk.
