Am I the only one who feels like we need to find a way to play Tech?

I don't care that it means one more game and I don't care at all about the China Virus "risk"

I know it probably won't happen, but I still hate losing that game

There is a 0% chance of it happening.

I want us to, but it won’t happen.

I hope this doesn’t impact the long-term future of the series.

So last year we beat em 52-7 7 and lost
Swift for the SECCG and Pickens for the
1sr half.

Sorry,any chance of competing in
the game was gone and we gained what by
playing Tech?

Mainly because I love kicking their arse too much to give it up, but also because I care about the history of the rivalry.

Tech could’ve made the same argument in the 50’s. I know it’s fun to pick at them that they’ll never be competitive again, but odds are there will be competitive games in the future. How far in the future is the question.

I don't see any way for us to lose enough to meet Tech in a bowl. We'll just have to wait until next season.

No they couldn't and we were also in the same conference back then. The game
meant much more.

Lets play em at the beginning of the year and we should alternate them with a intersectional opponent. They need us a whole lot more than we need them.

Penn State quit playing Pitt regularly and the same with LSU and Tulane...things change and there has to
be more at stake than the "Governors cup" or "bragging rights"

I agree, but it comes down to how much UGA cares about the rivalry. I personally care a lot.

It isn’t for any practical reason, and I know there are a lot of people that don’t care about history. I’m just not one of those people.

this is pretty much where me head is on this

when I was little, my dad would take my little brother and me to the GA vs Tech JV game on Thanksgiving

when I finally got to go to the Saturday game, it was a sign that I was becoming a man

I hated losing the JV game and I am unhappy to lose the actual game this year

As another poster said, this season the game would be about as meaningful as Penn State-Pitt or LSU-Tulane.

Hell, even Texas and A&M haven’t played each other in nearly a decade. I think we can survive one year of separation.

I wonder if it is a good idea to continue to play the game every year? It really isn't much of rivarly and almost without fail both teams seasons are more or less settled by the time the game rolls around. It is a great tradition and Thanksgiving week would be different for sure but wouldn't it allow both teams to schedule a OOC opponent at home that would be a more competitive game most years?

Tech can be competitive...they could recruit Metro Atlanta alone and with good coaching win 70% of their games every year....they like to claim that academics stands in the way but there ain't many football players getting into Tech without some leniency and they ain't staying eligible without the same.....Tech is a fantastic school in the greatest city in the South and among the best in the nation and the world....Tech Alumni and Atlanta deserve better college football seeing as how Atlanta is pretty much the epicenter of college football at the moment. Tech may not be national title contenders every season but going through 10-15 years of 4 and 5 wins a season with the occasional 8 win season is shameful giving the resources, tradition and fan base....
