I hope so but I’m not sure we’d be some huge transfer destination for top receivers in regards to how we operate on offense. This isn’t a place you’re going to come put up great numbers.

Interestingly enough, both Lovett and Rara were coming from programs where they could be The Guy in receiving, and they chose Athens and an established WR-by-committee approach.

We've seen the pendulum swing the other way as well, with Jermaine Burton and AD Mitchell leave for schools where they could take focus.

Just my opinion here, but I actually kind of think Rara and Lovett being willing to come here speaks to them not seeing anyone they can’t beat out. Also wanting to be a part of a championship contender obviously, but I also don’t think they saw anything on our roster that scared them. Furthermore if we’re gonna rely on the portal to upgrade the receiver position, we better keep landing high level guys. If you rely on the portal and miss that puts you even further behind.

It’s obvious the heavy rotation of WR is a Kirby thing. I was told that would change going from Hankton to BMac but it’s almost worse. Fact of the matter is guys wanna put up numbers and play. Not rotate out and play half the meaningful snaps. You can sell rotation to a rb because if the amount of hits etc. WR want to be out there producing because there’s multiple pass catchers so only so much opportunities.

I'm at the point where I never question Kirby, but I also don't get it. Seems to me like rotating 6 or 7 receivers would make it harder for the QB to get in a rhythm and harder to recruit. These other schools have to be negative recruiting Georgia on this. Also the fact we use 2 tight ends more than any other team except for Iowa.

I can't blame Carr if he goes to Florida State. Coleman and Johnnie Wilson play just about every snap and they call a bunch of plays for them.

I like that you used FSU as an example because they’re a pretty balanced offense. They run a good bit. It’s just when they go to pass, their starters are out there a vast majority of the time.

I agree that it would make a stronger case to incoming WRs if we only targeted 6 receivers in a game instead of a dozen.

Bowers, Ladd, MR-J, Rara, Lovett and Arian Smith should be the focus of 90% of the passing plays while the starters are in. That's more than enough to say grace over in a pro-style offense.

Absolutely. And there’s a decent chance everyone you just listed is gone after this season. We have some talented younger receivers, but we are almost certainly going to have multiple spots for open competition.

It’s clear people, especially recruits, don’t understand how special Brock is. Delp, Spurlin, and Luckie will be good, but they won’t be the mismatch Brock is. Therefore, more of those balls will go to WR and RB next year.

Sounds like other coaches are putting this in his head. I don’t feel so about about him leaving if he’s that selfish and stupid.

What's going on with our WR recruiting? Matthews went to UTk, Carr left for Miami, and Tuggle may be gone soon, too.

NIL, and negative recruiting in regards to our production at the position.

Have heard buzz on some second tier guys from the likes of Miss State and others about flipping. Still after KJ Bolden and offering him option to play both sides of ball.

Portal will be an option again im sure. Same for DL unfortunately. Juco has been mentioned for DL, too.

I guess RaRa and all isn't enough to counter negative recruiting, nor our passing numbers

I think we are in the top 5 as far as passing yards per game in the nation. We just rotate so much and Bowers is our #1 so the individual numbers aren't as gaudy as say a UTk or whoever.

We also require our WR to block and to be good at blocking. Tyler Williams would probably be playing more snaps for other teams that don't require blocking buy-in to get on the field. It's rare for a freshman WR to come in a play a lot for us. Which undoubtedly hurts us too.
