Thought I'd make this so anyone who has info can post it all in one place. Anyone know what time they start today?
Posted on 3/16/21 at 1:47 pm to AllDawgCK
Don't they usually start at first light?

In years past I thought I've seen a combination of that and early afternoon starts. So not sure.

I was going to start a thread this morning but got lazy
INJURY UPDATE
Don't expect to hear much from these guys while they are rehabbing from injuries.
WR DOMINICK BLAYLOCK - had ACL surgery in September, is doing some straight-line running and getting in shape. He's approximately six months removed from tearing the ACL in the same knee for a second time.
WR MARCUS ROSEMY-JACKSAINT - suffered a dislocated ankle while crossing the goal line against Florida. He's running straight-line and progressing in his rehab.
DL JULIAN ROCHESTER- had surgery to repair a torn ACL, his second in a two-year span, in November. He might be able to do some drill work and condition, but he's a few months from being cleared for contact.
OLB MJ SHERMAN - he had major shoulder surgery in the spring and just recently shucked the sling and won't get much work at all this spring.
ILB TREZMEN MARSHALL - had surgery to repair a shoulder injury during the season. He's limited at best during preseason camp because it was a significant injury.
TE RYLAND GOEDE - He suffered a torn ACL during his senior year and broke his hand early in his freshman season. There have been other minor ailments as well but he had surgery to remedy an issue with his shoulder late in 2020.
OL MICAH MORRIS - Had shoulder surgery when he arrived at UGA.
ILB NAKOBE DEAN - had surgery to repair a torn labrum in January and probably hasn't been out of a sling for too long. He'll be able to do some running and drill work.
LB XAVIAN SOREY - Limited, In June 2020 underwent surgery on his foot to address a stress fracture. Had to have an injection/procedure to remedy it since arriving at Georgia.
CB KELEE RINGO - seven months removed from labrum surgery. It can take up to a year, maybe more before a player is completely comfortable in their return from that surgery depending on how extensive the procedure was but he should be able to get in plenty of non-contact work.
**Brock Vandagriff should be good to go for spring practice(knee)**

It is scary how beat up and injury riddled we were last season.
A ton of talent.
We need a good year.

The offense is loaded at every position.

As to the defense, it's all about finding or developing another set of all star corners.
Today's AJC notes say that Lovasea Carroll is lining up in the defensive backfield for this spring. Did he play any corner in high school? Is this guy an unpolished gem as a DB or just a way to give him reps with a very crowded running back field?
I don't remember hearing him described as a true burner (certainly not the Eric Stokes type) and would wonder if he has the hips for a CB. But I think he was categorized as ATH rather than RB for awhile so maybe he's got some possible DB attributes.

He played DB in high school (mostly safety i have been told).
Ive also been told that he is fast enough for corner. Athletic enough to handle the job. But best fit for safety (not sure where star role fits).
Even if he isnt starter 1A at corner, we have been nicked up at the position the past 3 seasons. We need 2A and 2B ready at a moments notice.

So, thou art saying he could be 2B or not 2B? I shall contact my attorney, anon!

He will train for special teams also. A couple of years ago his times in the 100 and 200 meters were 10.80 and 22.29 respectively. He is a 4.4 forty guy. Kirby seems to know how to coach up speed guys to play in the secondary. Carroll also has good size at 6'1 195 to play in the secondary.

Can someone explain this to me. What would the front 7 look like?
quote:
Coach Kirby Smart is looking at Anderson to play the “Star” position, which he explained is essentially one of the two outside linebackers in UGA’s base 3-4 alignment.
“Basically when you are an outside backer, you are a Star,” Smart said after the second practice of the spring on Thursday. “In a 3-4 system, you have two outside backers. Well, every snap that we play a 3-4, we have a STAR that is an outside backer. So Mark Webb was an outside backer on 50 percent of the snaps

Think leonard floyd or lorenzo carter.
Alec ogletree.
Long, athletic, and can pass rush and cover equally well.

We need him at DB. And I think that’s where he can make it to the next level.

Every time I hear this position described, I always think that Thomas Davis was born to play it. Dude came around about 20 years too early.

Im not expecting Anderson to be at star against most teams. Against 11 personnel, we are going to want a DB on the majority of snaps over the slot receiver.
Even Arkansas had winning matchups with their Arian Smith type slot/receiver against Webb/Stevenson with too much speed against coverage. We arent improving things with Adam Anderson out there in man coverage.
That said, a lot of teams have been heavy 12 personnel (bama, auburn, tennessee) . And anderson could have a role out wide where he can probably cover/blitz equally well. I dont see it said much in the media, but i saw Nolan Smith handle this role last season. I dont have any doubt that Adam Anderson will be better at it.
I could see situations where we get creative with Anderson and move him along the line of scrimmage as a blitzer to stress blocking assignments. But that wont be a scheme as much as an independent playcall (i.e. blitzing our boundary corner is not a scheme but something we do 2-4 times a game).

Add McIntosh to the list: dislocated elbow. Out at least 1 month

Is it me or does JT look like he’s put on about 25 lbs of pure muscle? If not, I need whoever does the team photography to follow me around for a weekend.
