You have to figure Kirby wouldn't have wasted a spot on him if there wasn't some way to get him qualified?

Who knows, we did the exact same thing with Nadab Joseph last year and that turned out to be a total waste

George Pickens can leap out of the building and has great body control. His biggest knock is hands and top end speed - Dom Blaylock has the hands and good speed so it’s a nice combo. Pickens is red zone weapon coaches salivate about. If he qualifies - lookout.

Maybe Kirby thought it was worth it to waste the scholarship this year at a minimum just to keep him from going to Auburn, with the knowledge that he would be at UGA the following year?
