At this point not only is it concievable, it's likely. Very very likely.

I wouldn’t stick my neck out too far for Haselwood. We should be the favorite but you just never know.

I want him but he is 6 days from committing and he releases his “top 5” on his shoes? I thought “Top 5” is something most kids do when they are three months out - not less than a week.

Not the kid’s fault that his recruiting is so heavily scrutinized but sheesh.

At the end of the day, he is a great talent and hope he’s a Dawg!

One day people are going to find out that the bagmen of the University were not behind all of this drama...but the recruiting services bagmen were the ones passing out Benjamins to Recruits and their families to keep up these games to frick with fanbases and generate web buzz...

I got this shite figured out.

I always figured that the University bagmen were paying recruiting services, or individual analysts, to create some buzz for their programs. "Journalists" have been bought for much lesser sums than get thrown around in cfb.

Haselwood is definitely having a fun time with his recruiting. I think he has Georgia in his heart and the only other school that makes sense is Oklahoma unless Florida St, Miami and Tenn have told him they're starting him as a freshman and they're making him the focal point of the offense.

Rusty Mansell just posted some articles on 247. Said UGA is in an even better spot than he thought for Haselwood.

Said Dean is still unknown. He says he is hearing both sides from different sources on him as far as UGA and BAMA.

Then he heart attacks everyone with a joke. Starts a thread title "****BUCKLE UP" and inside reads "just testing for later on lol"

People died in that thread.

One guy replied I felt like I was opening a huge Christmas present Nd it turned out to be a knitted sweater from grandmother.

Rusty also posted up an article about Neal's visit and an interview with his mom talking about how much she loved the visit and the coaches at UGA and that UGA didn't come in late and has been recruiting her son all along.

Jeff Sentell? Wrote a nice peice on Dean....sounded really positive to me.

This is a nice example of why it's best to not get too into recruiting. These guys are compensated for the interest they can generate.

He pulled the same stunt a few years ago, hyping up a huge news break for a couple days that turned out to just be a low rated punter. He tried to defend it by posting about how important special teams are.

Are there any 247 subscribers on this site?

Is it me or is Rusty and Kipp having trouble with finding sources this cycle? The lack of 247 content leading up to the eNSD is one thing (it’s awful) but they are regurgitating reports from other insiders. Most notably this morning. Rusty has been pimping a surprise SEC commit (Ty Davis) as a surprise visitor. Yesterday, BOL’s Tim Watts informs his members Ty is visiting USC this weekend. Today, Rusty, in breaking news fashion, says the same thing. Rusty has no information on Sanders or Dean either.

Rusty has his Georgia connections, but it seems the large number of out of state prospects has left him guessing. Anyone else get that feeling?

I’m not a subscriber anywhere, but it definitely seems that the UGA rivals guys are more in the know than 247 lately.

This is why I’ve been ignoring Watts and Rusty’s reports. They’re usually dead on when the recruiting battles are happening in state because they have legitimate connections to the high schools and players themselves (not just the sunshine pumpers in the college programs). This cycle has been different though as it’s putting the battles everywhere but in Georgia. Watts may be better connected simply because Bama mods are used to covering a ton of out of state talent ever year but it’s not help d by the fact that Dean is surrounded by a lot of people who all seem to be really vocal about where he should go.

This is why you need context when looking at these guys. If it’s a GA kid, rusty’s word is as good as gold. He just doesn’t have as many sources outside the state and it’s more conjecture than concrete word of mouth from those really close to the situations.

And don’t get me wrong, Rusty seems to have good connections in the Carolinas and Florida but we rarely seem to foray into Miss or LA for recruits so there’s just not much reason for him to have and maintain those contacts

But but but.....Rusty is the end all be all!! Dont believe anything anyone else says because rusty is the only one that knows anything!!!!

Or that's what some people say. Rusty has been wrong on enough prospects the last 3 years that I'll look somewhere else for info on someone like Dean.

I am pretty sure he has been getting his info from Watts over at BOL on Dean. And I dont think either one has a damn clue at this moment.

Another thing that is notable is that information is harder to come by under Kirby than in the past.

Back in the Richt days and even when I just lurked here in college, I could get info on lots of recruits from a friend who worked in the recruiting office or from some family friends who are boosters.

These days, those folks don’t know much and don’t tell much of what they do. Information, like the other aspects of the program, is under much tighter control.

I agree fully with that.... I don’t even ask any more. Out of respect.

He’s without a doubt getting second hand info from Watts. He can’t admit he doesn’t have any connections. I know a lot of the 247 guys do that.

A few years ago, I believe it was EJ Holland of Texas247 who told his members they typically put a local 247 staff member on a prospect out of respect, so there isn’t 5 guys from the same network (different sites) annoying the player or family. I guess that makes sense but the info has the propensity to be slanted.

I was just curious of others opinions. Pretty much corroborates my feelings. The Dawgs 247 admins are struggling this cycle. Never been a fan of Kipp, but surprised with Rusty. I didn’t mean to derail the thread. Anyways, continue on...

Kirby seems to subscribe to the Saban information control mentality. Not that you dont get the info, but if you do get it, it's because he wanted you to. It's basically a form of marketing, and it appears to work. Sure it drives the recruiting reporters nuts.
