I realize you can’t really complain about having a #2 ranked recruiting class....but when I look at the states of Alabama and Florida they both keep a lot of their top talent in state. When I look at Georgia I see a lot of Michigan, Bama, Auburn, Clemson steals. Why is this?

6 of top 10 players from Florida are leaving. Looks like we might sign several of them including the top 1.

Alabama is a different story, but this is a weird point to make the day after we took the best player in the state.

And wasn’t Justyn Ross #1 last year that went to Clemson? It’s not like they’re locking it down either

Hank South CB’ed Dean to Alabama, imagine that.

Hank South is trash. Tim Watts is very credible however. Let’s see how things transpire over the next 48 hours. Barton Simmons was on XM tonight and he said Dean to UGA.

I’m curious, how does our engineering school compare to Alabama’s?

Alabama's is more established. Don't think we've had ours long enough to have a good handle on how it will stack up.

ETA: Engineering schools are set to abide by the ABET standard, and as a result its going to be more or less what you should expect with any other ABET institution. Basically, UGA's engineering program is more or less just like any other engineering school, including Tech's.

I truly believe that no one knows but Dean. Everyone is getting their info from family, friends and coaches but none of them actually know either.

Bamas is more established but it honest doesn’t matter; Dean won’t major in Engineering no matter where he goes

Nah.

Does he go out on a limb more than Watts? Sure. Does it bite him in the arse sometimes by doing so? Absolutely.

But he said he based his CB partly on what sources are telling Watts. After all, Tim Watts is his boss.

Barton Simmons was the sole reason Matt Elam was a 5-star. He didn't even start in college. At Kentucky.

He wasn't a 5 star. He was a composite 4 star and a 92 overall.

Matt Elam Kentucky

He was a bit over ranked but Bama wanted him at the time and likely had to do with his massive frame.

You just explained why no one, outside of Bama fans, trust South. He is terrible.

I have not hired a UGA Engineer yet. Have not had one come across my desk to be honest. I have hired Bama grads, but from the business school. Hired more Auburn Engineers and Construction MGT. Most of them are solid. Have a number of UGA grads with biz and other random degrees. Some of my best guys are honesty ones with random degrees who had good experience and people skills along with a great work ethic. My Tech guys are good Engineers tho. Just need to keep their contact with Owners to a min..

From everything I’ve read about his family life and how he respects their decision making I’m inclinded to think he’s coming to Ga. It may be his decision but I bet Mom wins this one.

Trent Smallwood just picked Trey Sanders to UGA over at Rivals. He is 100% correct the last 2 cycles.

Says that the sources close to trey he talked with told him UGA.

I think we get Sanders and you guys get Dean which was the exact opposite last week. . Actually, I thought you guys were getting Webb and Sanders and we took Dean so that's recruiting for you.

He was on 247. 247's Class of 2014 Final Rankings

Guess who makes the final call on 247's rankings?

Barton Simmons.
