Losing Wims would mean even more important to land DRob or flip Simmons.

Gotta good feeling on Drob. Hopefully we can keep Wims.

Not really. Wims is a big body receiver (a major need) while D Rob and Simmons are both small, quick receivers (something we have a lot of). We need Wims size and D Rob's speed isn't going to make up for what that provides you

We offered another JUCO WR that's around 6'4" a couple days ago. Nowhere near as good as Wims, though.

if Tre Nixon really is a silent...why would it make any difference in the importance of landing d-rob? Neither he nor Nixon is the same type receiver as Wims, correct? Neither is suddenly going to become the Rangy 6'4" jump-ball, fade route guy.

Nixon is 6'1 and could be a decent possession receiver. He'd stil fulfill a need, not jsut as big of one as Wims. D-Rob would just be nice to have because 1. He's from Savannah and 2. He's really fricking good.

True. Just meant in the sense that we lack both talent and depth at WR.

I feel like folks make way too much deal of height at receiver. Antonio Brown is 5'10. We have talented guys like iMac and Woerner. Just go get me a football player, dammit.

I like tall receivers myself, but Tom Brady is beating people with Edleman, Amandola, and a big tight end.

Couldn't care less about height right now, we just need guys who can get separation, nobody currently on roster besides Godwin has shown they can do that.

We need a QB that isn't scared to throw the ball further than 8yds downfield and a WR who can actually make a catch. We had none of that except for Godwin and Mitchell this past season

Because he's fricking Tom Brady and those are receivers deemed athletic and talented enough to make it as a professional football player

That's the thing. People in here acting like the height doesn't matter. We don't have Big Ben or Tom Brady throwing to these kids. Are there good, smaller receivers? Sure, but let's be real here. We have a true freshman at QB, an unknown commodity although people are already ready to declare him christ incarnate. He needs big targets that can fight for those 50/50 balls. We can't just rely on Godwin and IMac to shake folks behind the LOS or Blaze and Nauta to be the physical threat. You need dudes outside who are gonna be matchup nightmares for little corners.

How many times have you watched games where a team that was prolific at passing was shut down because they finally faced a defense with physical, tall corners. Usually that team is an Alabama. When you go against those athletic secondaries that span the SEC you really lose the advantage of just having smaller, athletic WRs.

Not SEC but it reminds me of 2008 PSU. Darryl Clark sucked, god he sucked, but in 2008 he comes out and looks like John god damn Elway. Why? He was throwing to an elite WR corp in Jordan Norwood, Deon Butler, and Derrick Williams. They were pretty much all just speedy little shits and so they kicked arse most that season until they met a physical secondary in Iowa. They then shut that arse down. This also does go to show that WRs, like the OL, can make a college QB. Eason aint Brady and it's pretty unlikely he is. We'll be lucky if he turns into the next Stafford. Clark was seen as many as a heisman contender after 2008 but in 2009 he went out there with Chaz fricking Powell as his go to WR and the world saw how shitty Clark was.
