Thanks for the info as always Bucc. I was just coming into the Recruiting thread to ask why the McMillan Crystal Ball had two new Bama predictions yesterday. Keeping him from OSU would be big for whoever does end up with his signature.

Anybody who has 247, Rusty's insider notes this morning are up. They make me happy

Can you give us the highlights?

-UGA clear team to beat for Wesley Green. Could be over relatively soon
-"follow the visits" with Carter. This will be his 4th UGA game this season with the OV still unused. Will still likely be a NSD announcement
-D'Andre Walker turning into a stud off the edge in 2015 class. UGA lean

So yall are the guys who'd know this, what'd be the potential recruiting fall out from a Grantham departure? Would it be vital to get a guy to replace him ASAP or should Georgia wait till after signing day?
Granted I know the latter strategy would totally go against the idiots that think our program is so haven of morality but I am curious as to whether not the defensive commitments have committed to the coach or the program.

We would want to fire him and hire a new guy ASAP. Grantham isn't a particularly active recruiter, but it would probably hurt us the most with Rashaan Evans. Overall though, I think the impact would be manageable as long as we don't totally overhaul the scheme (switch to a 4-3). Most of our defensive recruits were recruited by BMac, Bobo, Lilly, or Wilson.

See that's what I figured. You never really hear much about how Grantham swayed recruits. Hell, IIRC didn't he even offend a recruit or their family recently? Maybe I am imagining shite again. Makes me wonder if Richt goes and does it post Tech again.
And that's interesting that 3/4 big recruiters are offensive coaches and they get our defensive guys

I think that was Garner who didn't show up when Davin Bellamy visited. We got Bellamy because Garner left.
I think Grantham was only really big in the Jordan Jenkins recruitment.
Those 4 are really our major recruiters in general. BMac has turned into our ace. Bobo has turned South Ga in our favor. Lilly and Wilson are just solid overall.

DGD I honestly don't thin it'd be too much from an outsiders perspective, and speaking from experience some of the strongest D classes Bama has had we're when Kirby was just hired and all the kids already knew him etc...I will say though that a guy would probably need to be hired pretty quickly before NSD. I also think UGA signs so many close prospects from inside the state and area that the kids are gonna be familiar enough with UGA's program. The more important aspect is finding a coach who meshes well with the type of guys the D staff has evaluated and signed and who will run a similar scheme but tbh about Grantham I have thought for a long time that he doesn't use enough scheme diversity to counteract situations so a lot of 3 man front gurus would have a leg up with the talent UGA has if Richt can find the right guy and give him total control.

Ahhhhhhhhhh ok yea I remember now. Oops. And well no wonder Jenkins is speaking up for Grantham then.
And gotta say, McClendon has surprised me. I just figured it was typical Georgia being lazy and hiring a former player but the guy has done a helluva job

Great points bucc, appreciate the insight buddy
Just hope our DC search goes better than last time and I think it will. Last time Richt had his head on a chopping block or at least near it so maybe this time an up and comer will see the potential. Or Pruitt wants lots of cash

He would have to be hired before NSD or we stand a chance of losing a lot of D recruits.

Hope we don't sit on our asses then

Don't hold your breathe on anything. Although, if he goes on another interview I hope CMR says buh bye now.
Posted on 11/20/13 at 12:43 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
Who'd he interview with? Was this recent or the last few times he did?
Posted on 11/20/13 at 12:56 pm to Damn Good Dawg
Didn't he interview with the Saints last year right before NSD?
Posted on 11/20/13 at 1:02 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
I know he did some pro interviews but for the life of me I can't remember
