Surprised Kennedy didn't get T'ed up after that last charge. He got right in the refs face.

Bad calls on what should have been three and 1s was the difference.

Yep. That has always been his biggest flaw in his game

I would have been fine if he did.

But either way we all knew a loss would surface eventually. Bs calls hurt us but would could have played better ball and it would have been a non-issue.

Now on to Iowa state. Redemption.

It does suck to have a bullshite game like that affect you so much (I wouldn't be surprised if a 3 seed was our ceiling now), but the NBA is so sanitized I just can't see how you can enjoy it outside of the playoffs. But I guess I feel that way for pretty much every pro sport anyway

As long as we play the opening weekend in OKC it doesn't matter.

College basketball is fun if you're a fan of a given team, but objectively the vast majority of players and teams just aren't very good. There were regular dudes I played with at the rec who could have started for some low-end D1 programs. There just aren't very many legitimate pro prospects in CBB, and it shows in the draft when most years you are VERY lucky if you get an impact player outside the top 5 of the lottery. The reason nobody watches the NBA draft is because most of the picks are guys who have virtually no chance of ever doing anything.

Meanwhile in the NFL, day one starters are routinely drafted as late as the 3rd-4th rounds. There are A LOT more legitimate pro prospects in college football and more good college football teams as a whole. College football much more closely resembles the NFL than CBB resembles the NBA, because no matter how technically sound you are you have to be VERY athletic to be an impact NBA player.

Just look at the lineups in this Mavericks/Warriors game: Raymond Felton, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Deron Williams, Chandler Parsons, Andrew Bogut, Harrison Barnes, etc.

Just about everyone out there was a SUPERSTAR either in college or their native country. Now look at any given starting NFL roster and you'll see it littered with guys who were just good college players.

Sloppy and bad night all around. Learn from it and get ready for a damn good Cyclone team.

Just finished the game, horrible, horrible officiating. Aside from those two completely BS charge calls, we got called for every ticky tack "free movement" penalty and they didn't get a single one.

Still feel good about the team, beat the Cyclones and we still have a ton of momentum.

The charge calls were terrible but it never should have come down to that. 21!!! turnovers. Collins was way too sloppy.

It wasn't just Collins. Everyone had issues. AC, Jones, House, & Gilder alone with Collins with at least 3 TOs.

The offense just looked like it was stuck in a rut most of the game. We didn't move the ball well and we didn't hit open shots at a high enough clip when we actually got them.

The defense actually made adjustments and looked much better in the 2nd half.

I've confidence in us to beat isu at home. That arky game had an L written on it all week imo. Sloppy play the last few games was due to being over confident. That L will have us back on track just in time for a big game at home on nat'l tv

This Weekend's Top Games

quote:

3.) No. 16 Iowa State at No. 5 Texas A&M

Saturday, 2 p.m., ESPN

About the Cyclones (16-4, 5-3): First-year coach Steve Prohm inherited a Final Four-caliber roster from Fred Hoiberg and that story line hasn’t changed, despite a few hiccups. Iowa State’s record is a bit deceiving, just as a bevy of Big 12 teams’ records are. ISU’s wins against Oklahoma and Kansas show the Cyclones are one of, if not the best team in the country’s toughest conference. Preseason All-American Georges Niang is having another sensational season, while Monte Morris has established himself as one of the best point guards in the country.
About the Aggies (17-3, 7-1): Texas A&M silently became the No. 5 team in the country and the SEC front-runner. Then the Aggies dropped their first conference game at Arkansas earlier this week — immediately calling into question the team's potential. Guards Jalen Jones and Danuel House are two 6-7 nightmare matchups on the perimeter. And freshman center Tyler Davis (11.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg) has provided the boost this team needed to contend. One area of concern for the Aggies, especially in late-game situations, comes at the charity stripe; A&M ranks 285thth nationally with 65.8% from the free-throw line.
Star Watch: Iowa State forward Niang (19.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and guard Morris (15.5 ppg, 7.0 apg). Texas A&M guard Jones (17.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and guard Danuel House (15.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg).
The pick: Iowa State. This is one of the Big 12’s best teams and one of the SEC’s best teams. For Texas A&M, this is a chance to prove itself because the SEC is hardly as strong of a conference. The Cyclones shoot the ball exceptionally well, ranking fifth nationally with 50.3% shooting from the field, so it will be important for the Aggies to control the tempo and ride the home crowd.

Myron Metcalf predicts Iowa State will beat A&M, which begs the question:

Who the frick is Myron Metcalf?

This paragraph by Logan Lee all by itself is enough to make me believe we are fricked today.

quote:

Cyclones are a fast-paced, uptempo team that can score in a multitude of ways. They are a good three point shooting team, a decent half court offensive team and a great transition team. Iowa State averages almost 84.4 points per game, with more than 70 of those points coming from its five starters.

ISU's Georges Niang is a very fine player and will be hard to handle.
