Yeah I didn’t mean we had a chance to hire him that we should have taken. Just thought we would regret not having and taking it. I’m glad the opportunity never presented itself to where our BOR would have the option of making that mistake.

Picking a fight with John Lopez says it all. His wife jumping in on Twitter just confirms it.

I don’t think I was ever a Herman guy. I think I would have thought that we would have been repeating a Sumlin style hire. I did think he could make waves in Austin.

The radio call with Lopez definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Seemed kind of manic. Very weird.

Sips have their stories all twisted up now, Chase Lane apparently went to LSU with his 7v7 team, decided since he was an A&M commit, he would stay in the car.

Sips have morphed that into Fisher having a no visit policy while an A&M commit.

And now they are running with Leal defying that policy.

EJ Holland is terrible at his job, and if he's not careful he's gonna get burned when one of these kids calls him a liar on Twitter. Hamm got fired for less.

Converse Judson defensive lineman DeMarvin Lealwas thought to be a heavy Texas lean for quite some time before committing on his official visit (and announcing a few days later) to Texas A&M last month. It completely took the Longhorns by surprise. However, A&M and especially Tim Brewster had been working on him for some time.

If you’ll remember, Brewster had tweeted a few weeks prior that he knew who the next Myles Garrett would be in Aggieland. It was assumed he was talking about Braedon Mowry as the four-star end had an announcement scheduled soon after. However, it was about Leal as Brewster had built a strong relationship with both Leal and his family.

Leal made an official visit to Texas this past weekend. Obviously, that’s something A&M would prefer not happen. However, it did not take them by surprise and there has never been a Jimbo Fisher ‘no-visit policy.’

The trip to Austin went well from all accounts but A&M is still confident in getting Leal’s signature when all is said and done. They absolutely love him and consider him even better than his current ranking as the No. 74 player in the nation. The entire staff is involved in his recruitment. Brewster and Terry Price were recently at his school for a 6 a.m. practice.

Leal is also likely going to take an Alabama official visit at some point as well. Again, it is something the Aggies would prefer he not do, but they still feel confident he will sign with A&M at the end of the day.

Leal has never gone to camps and doesn’t do a ton of ‘recruiting’ events so he doesn’t know a bunch of other prospects. There aren’t a bunch of guys in his ear about either school, to be honest. But he does have a great relationship with the Aggie staff and A&M is going to work incredibly hard to hold on to him.

I believe he will remain an Aggie commit and sign in December

The sips best story from the recruiting weekend is getting Leal to Austin for a concert.

quote:

- DeMarvin Leal has been very quiet since his visit wrapped up (not a surprise he wanted it kept under wraps that he was on campus for as long as possible). One person did tell me it seemed like Leal was really enjoying himself on the visit. Leal is committed to Texas A&M, of course, and the thought from people behind the scenes on this one wasn't about getting him to flip his commitment this weekend. It was more about just showing him what Texas had to offer, getting him to keep an open mind and laying the foundation that could help Texas chip away in the coming months. Long way to go in this one but just the fact that Texas was able to get him on campus is pretty telling that Leal is keeping an open mind.

Our report after the visit.

Ry*n Br**ni**er 9:50p, 5/6/18 Staff Perhaps the most relevant news is that DeMarvin Leal has been in contact with the A&M staff for much of the day, and I've been told the conversations have been productive. Demarvin has given the indication to a couple of sources that he remains in the boat with Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies. If A&M can hold firm through an early official visit like that, you'd have to like their chances to ultimately sign Leal. Again, I think they'll still have to navigate a couple more visits. Second, I mentioned in my earlier thread that there may be a big out of state visitor this coming weekend, and I'll say now that Khris Bogle from Florida is the guy who is trying to get the details worked out to make it to campus for an unofficial. We'll track down confirmation on those plans later this week.

Ryan works for Texags. He's the main recruiting guy, and damned if he doesn't have a LOT of information.
