I have a hard time getting upset about what Sumlin did here.

He had a level of success we would have loved in the Fran era, its just we raised our expectations after the SEC move and he wasn't getting it done.

I still think he did a good job working to rebrand A&M, his 2012 year was our best year since the 1950s, and that he generally left the program in better shape then he found it.

We can always see our fired coaches doing well in the PAC or on the West Coast. DeRuyter, Spav...just lighting it up out West where anything goes.

DeRuyter was just fired and Spavital didn't last more than 1 season at Cal.

Kelly will do well at UCLA. Sumlin won’t beat USC either, and Utah has a much better coach

I also talked to Kevin Sumlin just now. Two quick things: 1. He said the offense will be catered to the players' strengths (which are to be determined) ... 2. Sumlin will coach the tight ends.

A coach who never uses tight ends in his playbook will be coaching tight ends

He got fires because we paid him a shite-ton of money and he still couldn't produce. I don't know what Fran was paid, but it probably wasn't near what Sumlin got

Fran was $2 million/season and was given a 10-year guaranteed contract after the 2004 season.

WTF How did A&M agree to pay him $5M per year

agreed and it should be the end of this discussion.

anything else is sour grapes. Everyone, especially sumlin, wanted to succeed. no need to deter from that simple fact. best just to move on.

2012 would have been a great team without a coach. Kingsbury not being there would have cost us more games than Sumlin.

Sumlin is inheriting a natural young talent in Khail Tate. This guy has some serious JFF qualities about him.

I don't wish any hard feelings on Sumlin. He did okay here. He just plateu'd and it was like hitting a wall. He's a relatively young head coach still and expectations won't be as extreme there.

I don’t know much about him but if this Tate kid is the real deal, sumlin needs to buy a lottery ticket already. Third time in a row he’s walked into a great QB situation at his new school: Keenum at UH, Johnny with us, and now Tate at AZ.

So the question now becomes where is he going to transfer after his freshmen year?
