Regardless of how I feel about his coaching, this is tough to watch.

Not hard to watch. He can no longer blame anyone else. This was inevitable.

Hopefully AggieAthletics puts it on YouTube.
I think him leaving will actually be beneficial for his career

Never fun when you know your number is about to be called to exit.

One of the NCOs in my unit is an Arizona State graduate who hates Todd Graham with a passion.
I keep joking with him that Sumlin will be his next coach, but that looks extremely likely.

Sumlin's a good dude. Regardless of how it played out, he brought the right attitude to our conference move and truly wanted to win. He's limited as a HC in this league, but not apathetic.
I wish him nothing but the best. Definitely drive no joy from seeing him deal with being on the way out. It sucks.

Watched it. Maybe I missed something but didn’t seem overly emotional.

I want a new coach. However, I take no pleasure from watching a really good man lose his job. I really wish that it had worked out that he be the coach to take us to championships.
I wish him the best in the future and I appreciate the work he put into making the football program better than when he found it.

Yeah I try to remember that more, especially as I get older.
I'm very glad I don't make my living based upon sports results. It's great when you're winning, but man it's a tough row to hoe when your fortunes turn. I couldn't deal.

Yeah it sucks for anybody to lose their job. I think a fresh start for him in the Pac will good. It will definitely be better for us. It just didn't work. I wanted him to be the one to lead us to conference champs and national standing. It just didn't work.

I had to fire 4 station commanders when I was a recruiting company commander.
It was not a fun experience.

Same here. And man he had a couple of fleeting opportunities to do something truly special here. Just couldn't get over the hump for a variety of reasons. Was pulling for him up until the end of last season.

Yikes, that sounds rough.

I WOULD BE IN TEARS TOO IF I GET FIRED AND HANDED $10 MILLION ON THE WAY OUT

Well, one of them consistently made over 150% of his mission, but there were severe discipline and integrity issues.
The other one was promoted too quickly and put in the station he was a Recruiter at over his buddies. Then his next 2 replacements failed.
Reserve Command pissed me off and I nearly went after then until my Battalion Commander pulled me back. Lucked out with their choice.

I will never forget the feeling I had after the Kenny Hill South Carolina game. I thought Sumlin had GOAT potential. We looked so fricking good right after Johnny. It's basically been all downhill since then.

i wish i could forget that. sumlin said he and the staff took things personally in RE: what was said about them in the offseason. Never would have imagined that was the begininng of the end.

59-0 was the beginning of the end for me.
It was more than the loss; it was proof that he had lost the team. They quit that day.
I also remember the 20+ straight incompletions against Old Miss. Again, this was because of issues with a player who happened to be a QB. In not allowing that player on the field he left the other out there who I presume was injured. Both would transfer out.
Clock mismanagement in so many games, with the worst being UCLA this year.
Bottom line, I do believe he is a good man. A flawed man, but who isn't. He just isn't the right coach right now for A&M. We might do better, but we might do worse so who knows what is in store. But once Coach Sumlin is let go he too has the opportunity to better his station and I wish him the best of luck.
