Love Robinson, but can not think of a time a coach was fired for sucking and his top lieutenant was hired to replace him. We should do whatever it takes to keep him at A&M. This is based more on Jimbo's culture than Robinson, but I just don't think it happens.

I agree on Schumann. He has a real chance to be the real deal. He is young, maybe too young. But the best coaches in football love the guy. I would much prefer a roll of the dice on his upside than a proven guy, that isn't top notch.

I still don’t see Traylor getting it but it’s concerning BL keeps bringing him up. If it is him it will be quite easy to check out as a fan, and I think you’ll see a precipitous drop in excitement from the fanbase and boosters. It’s an old school “he knows Texas HS FB” hire when that’s not the way it works anymore.

Elko seems like the most likely at this point which I’ll be fine with

Elko is only making around 3 M a year supposedly.

Looch shot down the Schumann hire it seems and Josh Pate mentioning it could be someone we aren’t thinking about to make a lateral move. I’ve been trying to figure out who it could be if it’s a “big name” that we aren’t thinking of, outside of the obvious Dabo narrative people seem to be pushing

The only positive I can think of w/Dabo is my avatar here would get changed to the pointing Spider-Man meme w/Jimo, Sumlin, and Dabo's heads all shopped onto the Spidey heads.

I’m not saying it is Dabo or that I even want him. I’m just saying who’s a big name that would make a lateral move? Only other guy I could think of is Ryan Day maybe?

The name Ed Orgeron ring a bell? Not saying that’s a good reason for or against hiring ER, but it’s been done plenty of times, just less so in recent years.

Seems like Traylor’s name is coming up a lot, most of texags is melting down over it. I can’t say it excites me either.

I don’t think Dabo is even interested/we are reaching out and I really hope that’s the case. He’s a great coach in what he’s done, but he doesn’t like the portal or NIL so I’m afraid the game is passing him up, would be Jimbo 2.0.

Sounds like Lanning and Deboer would take too much money to pull away from current schools, pass on giving another monumental guaranteed contract that it would require to get them here.

I like the idea of Schumann, let’s try and up and comer since hiring the established “white whale” didn’t work this last time. Offer 4.5 mil a year for 4 years and see if he can make it work. If not move on to the next.

If we end up going with a “safe” hire and roll with Elko, I’m fine with it. It’s not the flashiest hire but what he’s done at Duke is impressive, remember their starting QB got hurt this year and that’s most likely why his record hasn’t impressed as much as expected.

1 year is luck/random chance. 3 years in a row is a systematic failure somewhere in your offensive line scheme/coaching/development.

But you knew that….

Idk much about Traylor, so I’m a bit ignorant to why he’s so unpopular
With Lanning off the table I think I’d want 1 of Elko, Schumann, promote ERob

Dr RC was a major Aggy Chad guy if I remember right and wanted him bad. One of the worst coaches in SEC football history. I think I’d just retire my coaching hire takes if I had that one in the history

My guy would have been gone and over with w/minimal pain rather quickly.

You brilliant minds thought it was a great idea to break the bank for a guy FSU was about to fire b/c his team was collapsing into the pit of despair.

I may have been wrong but y'all were a hell of a lot more wrong begging for a dude who will now have a CFB version of Bobby Bonilla day for the foreseeable future. Now we're in a situation where we can't even go after the best coach possible b/c of how much money is owed to Fisher.

My favorite thing out of this is that Billy will never live down his article saying Jimbo's contract was a bargain.

Did Billy say that about the initial contract, or about the extension?

I hate to defend Jimbo but King's first injury was from his foot getting caught in the turf on an awkward tackle. The play was a read option on a 3rd and 4. The injury occurred 3 yards down the field after he pulled and ran directly into a defender when had he gone left or right he'd have probably gotten the first down. That injury was 100% chance.

Anyway, I was more just laughing at the idea of defending a mediocre record b/c of QB injuries when nobody is going to accept that as an excuse here anymore after the last few years.

IRRC it was the extension which makes his article even worse b/c it was based off the glory of an Orange Bowl season during COVID where we lucked out that nearly every single SEC team we played was complete crap.

FWIW, the “surprise” name Josh Pate was referring to was Marcus Freeman. Or at least that’s what several top boosters are telling people. No idea if that’ll pan out but he’s definitely on the hot board.

Shitting on our 2020 season is the most aggy thing ever. Even if we do well, it’s luck. We sure do love being underdog losers.
