I still wish I had had the opportunity to get a game in Kyle before the renovations. Don't get me wrong, the stadium looks great, got my sports pass ready, it'll look stellar to modern recruits which is what matters... but the old Kyle Field just seemed more "collegiate", for lack of a better term.

Maybe it's because I didn't get a game in last year and the only time I was there was for the Midnight Yell in which I was all the way up under the awning so it had an "indoor" type feel to it.

Again, it's great, will be at all home games next year, but I would've liked to get one in before it had started.

The old Kyle Field smelled like piss and bat shite and it always felt like a strong gust could cause it to fall apart. It was our hate barn

TBH I liked Kyle with the old horseshoe better that with the Zone. I am super pumped to see it now that it has been closed in and cleaned up though.

The Zone always just looked so awkward in the old setup. They could have done that much better IMO

We would have been better off if we just did this originally.

For some, yes. The upper zone seats suck. But 3rd deck west was wonderful to watch a game from. I wouldn't have traded those seats for that bowl.

You are probably right. That would have upgraded nicely.
The thing I missed most about the horseshoe was marching through the tunnel for games etc. It was awesome. Me and Lobotomy's class was the last class to ever have that opportunity. I also thought it just looked better than the Zone. Shane is right it looked awkward and like they did it just to do it instead of making it fit the stadium.

I'm sure the main reasons were cost and not having to bring the rest of Kyle up to current code by building a separate structure.

Just got chills thinking about what it must have been like doing jodies through the tunnel into the stadium.

Kyle in the horseshoe configuration was MY Kyle.

I loved it.

I LOVED Deware Fieldhouse though. Best gym I've ever been in. Hot as hell, old equipment. You had to love what you were doing to be in there and therefor it kept away the poseurs.

I think it's really cool how different class eras have their own memories of what Kyle was for them

My fish year ('06) was the debut of the biggest jumbotron open-ended Kyle would ever see, plus the debut of the ribbon boards and the maroon backdrop of the "Welcome to Aggieland" and "Home of the 12th Man" slogans emblazoned on the opposing decks of the stadium.

Was a real thrill marching into that atmosphere for the first time Will never forget it.
