there is absolutely no buyout faced if he leaves us for another job
The contract itself is in essence the buyout
10 years at 9 million per year, for Jimbo to uproot his life at this stage in his life it would take probably 12 million or more per year for at least eight years and even then that would be a questionable move
A&M will never be toxic like austin or LSU or Bama can be.
But as farmer has pointed out, if someone comes out him with 12 to 15,000,000 per year In the next three or four years, that means we won a national championship, and at that point no one is going to outbid us, no way no how

That was an opening. Now that opening is closed.

There is a program down the road that made the first offer that might be looking for a coach in a year or two. Woody would 100% look at Jimbo and try to top that 75M over 10. tu offered Saban 150 M for 10 years. When they couldn't get him they paid his assistant 5.7 a year while paying a 15.4 M Herman buyout. Average that out over 5 years and all of a sudden tu is paying 9M a year too for a much lesser coach.
I said in another thread, I probably would have waited until after this year. They decided not to.
Whether you agree with giving him the contract now, in a year, or never - this basically eliminates the chance for anyone to steal him away from us, where there was a slight possibility before.

I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree

Championship coaches don’t get pushed around by Colorado

Colorado offense has us confused. Calzada is not ready to be running this offense. 3 and outs killing out D in this heat.
Posted on 9/11/21 at 4:45 pm to Tridentds
Now we see why Calzada didn’t win the job

It's his 3rd year in the system!

He was rattled the moment he was asked to step on that field.
If Haynes King is really out for the season, then we are fricked.

It’s not just Calzada, our offensive line is trash right now. We are going to get eaten alive in conference play. I know we are breaking in 4 new guys on the line, but coach better get something figured out and fast.
I think calzada will grow and get better with first team reps, but our season is a 7-9 win one now. Sucks that we had an easier schedule this year and lose the starter in the second game, but it is what it is.

Am I the only one that saw Layden Robinson (64) basically on one leg the majority of the 2nd half, limping after every play?

Our defense will keep us in every game except possibly Alabama.

There were some really nice pockets for Calzada and he still looked rattled. I agree that the OL can play better but Calzada looked like a walkon

No he was clearly hurt. I guess Henson did not feel confident putting anyone else out there

And unless our offense improves drastically, it will keep us out of several games by itself.

They did have some good pass protection moments, but run blocking was pretty bad. We couldn’t run inside all game. Not sure why jimbo didn’t try more to the outside because what little we did seemed to work pretty well.

Or...it was the kind of injury that resting it too much would cause additional problems.

Don't hate me but that's some Liucci level spin.

I'm trying to imagine a possible reason they would do that. I don't agree with keeping him in as he was clearly struggling.

They win games with their defense when their starting qb goes down with a broken ankle
