So I’m actually predicting right now that Jimbo is going to leave FSU and take the A&M job.

I'm not 100% sold on Jimbo Fisher but pretty damn close. Definitely knows how to recruit and run a big time program which is something A&M desperately needs to move toward.

In my list of coaching hopefuls he is up there. I have very little interest in Chad Morris and no interest at all in Chip Kelly. I like DJ Durkin much better than Morris, Kelly, etc... anyway.

Open to bringing in a coordinator but it would have to be a perfect fit and from a big program. Greg Schiano for Ohio St would be interesting.

Goign to be a wild 2-3 weeks.

I mean, the guy has won a national championship and several conference championships. You never know if a guy will work out or not until he’s on campus and coaching, but for all the Chad Morris haters about him not having a good enough resume yet, Jimbo has as good of one as you can get. Isn’t there something like only 4 or 5 active coaches with a natty and he’s one of them?

It's not that I don't like Chip Kelly. He was great at Oregon. I just don't think his style of offense is suited for this conference. I like Kelly at UCLA a lot. In the SEC... not so much.

Don't think Kelly doesn't understand the SEC and how his style would work. There is a damn good reason he isn't having a press conference in Gainsville today don't you think??? He is meeting with UCLA today. Must be a reason for this because Florida is in great financial position and can pay much more than UCLA.

He's not. He loves to troll Texas fans by talking us up, which I'll take, but he's not a guy with actual sources or anything.

I like Kelly adjusting his offense to the SEC more than a 10-14 Durkin.

Nothing wrong with thinking that way. We all have an opinion.

I would take chip kelly over any other name out there, period.

No way man. He'll be way in over his head coaching against Dan Mullen, Ed Orgeron, Will Muschamp, Gus Malzahn and whatever elite coaches Arkansas and Ole Miss hire.

I wouldn't but he's probably behind very few names in my book.

I just don't understand the dead aim at Jimbo.

Ever since Oregon smashed the shite out of them in the first playoff Florida State has been trending downward. He has seven double digit losses and has gotten blown the hell out (losses of 39, 43, 32 points!) several times in the last 4 years. He lost to a 3-9 Georgia Tech and got his butt stomped by Houston in a game that wasn't anywhere near as close as the 14 point final spread two years ago. He is in his 8th season yet somehow was forced to go with a true freshman QB and is just 4-6 with a team chock full of 4-5 star players.

He's going to want carte blanche on assistants yet for the last several years the FSU people on this board have done nothing but complain he has hired a bunch of his buddies that he refuses to fire.

Am I taking crazy pills here? Are these not massive red flags? For the money and guarantees A&M is going to have to give him does this not scare the hell out of y'all?

shite, I honestly kind of think think Les Miles is the better hire if we are going to pick up a former national title winner who is stubborn about his assistants. At least he isn't going to get a deal so big we'd be locked into it for the next 6-8 years minimum. He never had a season at LSU as bad as Jimbo is having this year. Give him a canceled FCS game in 2015 and his record since 2010 is 11-2, 13-1, 10-3, 10-3, 8-5, 10-3*, 2-2. For the * they would have crushed McNeese. As long as he doesn't hire back Cam Cameron how in the world is Jimbo a better hire than Les?

I would love to trend downward going from 14-0 to 13-1 to 10-3,10-3. Outside of this year his down years are still 10 win seasons. You can pretty much pick holes in anyone’s resume.

The bottom line is he’s won a lot of footballl games.

My only hesitance with jimbo is what is his coaching effect? Floridastatr out talents 11/12 teams on their schedule each year.

That is a fair point. They play UF too so maybe 10/12 some years.

I think Jimbo improves out recruiting. He's done nothing, but kill it at FSU.

Here is his history at FSU
2007 - 20th
2008 - 12th
2009 - 11th
Jimbo takes over as HC
2010 - 8th
2011 - 2nd
2012 - 4th
2013 - 11th (smaller class)
2014 - 4th
2015 - 3rd
2016 - 3rd
2017 - 6th

If we can consistently get into the top 8 then we'd out talent 8 to 10/12. (Bama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia/Florida as the potential exceptions)

Jimbo might be the only coach we could realistically get that’s a clear upgrade over Sumlin in the recruiting department

That combined with his resume should easily make him the frontrunner.

I find it odd that we're debating over Jimbo. He's not Saban or even Meyer, but he's the same level or better than Dabo, Peterson, Gundy, Patterson, Harbaugh, Shaw, Petrino, Franklin. You go deeper than that then you get to guys who aren't proven or proven to not be good enough.

I agree. There are flaws with every coach’s resume aside from two. I would be elated if we managed to land Jimbo

I just don't see why we should rush into hiring him without talking to anyone else. Wasn't one of the major gripes with Sherman and Sumlin that there wasn't an actual coaching search?
