Good lord you guys are melting hard over a meaningless game

Winning or losing tonight has no impact at all on program trajectory. At worst we go to a slightly shittier bowl.

All momentum is gone. This team finished the season with a whimper and will be lucky to remain in the T25. You can kiss off Perkins and Mathews. Probably Evan Stewart as well, though no idea where the kid will go - probably Bama. The instate options are all trash. It's a disappointing season no matter what excuses you make.

Slightly?

We just fell from the Citrus to the Liberty.

Winning the Citrus Bowl was going to do…what, exactly?

Nothing but the playoff and NY6 matters. The rest are just extra practice time. Nobody gives a shite.

The Citrus is a major bowl my dude. It's on ABC on NYD and will be against a top 15 Big 10 school. Sorry but you are dead wrong.

Now instead of primo air time on ABC for 4 hours on NYD we will be shuffled off to play in them middle of the week when nobody will be watching.

Except for that top-3 class we’re about to sign, which this game was going to have no impact on one way or another. And in the end recruiting is what matters most at the top of college football.

Matthews is a lock to A&M, believe me or don’t but that’s reality. Perkins and Stewart will either come here or they won’t but it won’t have anything to do with tonight. Perkins has basically said he’s waiting on who LSU hires and will decide based on that.

And Alabama hasn’t prioritized Stewart, he’s flown their list of WR targets.

80% of CFB fans can’t tell you what city or stadium it’s played in, and almost none can tell you who won it last year.

Nobody gives a shite. Promise. You can rest easy.

I'm sure they know the name of the stadium for the Fiesta Bowl and who played in that last year too. Sure, sure, sure.

Dude, you’re arguing Fisher should be fired and that we’re doomed because we aren’t going to the fricking Citrus Bowl. I’m grasping at straws?!

And for the record yes, the overwhelming majority of legitimate CFB fans can tell you it’s played in Phoenix in the Cardinals stadium and ISU beat Oregon last year.

I'm saying we just lost a shite ton of momentum. Yes, dropping from a NYD Florida bowl down to a midweek Memphis or Charlotte or Houston bowl is a big drop. It's bad for short and long term perception. It's bad for recruiting. It's bad for exposure.

Also YES, as long as Jimbo has playcalling duties he is NOT the answer and it's pretty clear. Obviously we can't fire him b/c his contract is idiotic but losing to this LSU team is all we need to know that if he's calling the plays he ain't the guy.

Calzada at QB can't be an excuse. Whose fault is that? LSU had more than half their starters on defense out for this game, have a coach who was already fired, and they were also running w/a backup QB. This is an inexcusable loss that can clearly be placed at Jimbo's feet. How many times are we going to have to sit here and watch him abandon the run so his precious passing game can win the day? How many times do we have to see a player like Achane kill it on a drive only to be completely forgotten for the entire 4th quarter? We have a QB whisperer who coaches a QB that has the worst footwork I've ever seen at a major P5 school and he's been on the roster for 3 years already.

Would I love to be wrong? Hell yes I would. But I can already see the writing on the wall for next year. We're going to get a heaping dose of "This is a rebuilding year and '23 will be when we really have a chance" as we struggle to win 8 games w/a new QB, a ton of new starters on D, and a line that will probably once again end up being a work in progress all year long.

Fisher shouldn't be fired. He will hopefully accept that he failed this season, and work to improve. However, if he left for LSU I wouldn't be upset at that outcome either.

As long as he holds on to Weigman

Disappointing loss after clawing our way into the lead.

My view is that the inconsistency we have seen throughout the season stems from 2 main causes:

- Breaking in new starting QBs
- Playing too many freshmen on both sides of the ball

Calzada improved markedly over the season, especially being gimpy with his left knee and shoulder. He still has a ways to go fixing his footwork.

Last night we had 4 freshmen play a substantial number of snaps on defense. We also had 3 freshmen play a substantial number of snaps on offense.

Fisher needs to close out this year's recruiting class strong and keep stacking classes together.

Disagree, Calzada had some slightly better games against bad opponents (Mizzou, USCe) his fundamentals never really got better. His accuracy is bad, he throws off his back foot all the time, and he still doesn’t see open guys. He really has not progressed much this season and had two games over 200 yards. In the modern age of college football, not having a 300 yard game for the season is crazy.

No doubt his footwork needs major improvement but I thought he played very well last night for the amount of duress he was under. Earlier in the year he would have turned the ball over multiple times on plays where rushers got in his face by just throwing the ball up for grabs.

He has a lot of upside if he can settle his feet, keep improving going through his progressions, and getting the ball out on time. No idea if he will be able to do it but we will see how he comes out of the offseason. Worst case scenario should be he is a solid backup after all of the game reps he has played.

I just don't see how anybody can compare how he started during his first 2 or 3 games to where he has ended up and argue that he has not improved.

Glad you see the positives in Calzada. To change the subject, hypothetically, how many seasons does Jimbo have if he continues to go .500 in the SEC West. He and his staff get paid a lot of money.
