This weekend we have the powerful Ponies of Highland Park!

HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS!

Texas A&M is 44-29-7 vs SMU all time for a 55% winning percentage and has not lost to SMU since 1984. That's 30 years according to my Aggy maths.

Top movies from 1984 include Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Gremlins, Footloose, The Karate Kid, Police Academy, Star Trek III, The Natural, Revenge of the Nerds, Splash, Romancing the Stone, Amadeus, Terminator, Bachelor Party, Sixteen Candles, The Muppets Take Manhattan, Dune, Purple Rain, and of course the best of them all, Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.

GHOSTS OF AGGY PAST!

Mr Tom Rossley will best be remembered by us Aggy as the man who had to beg Sherman to sign Johnny fricking Football.

STORY TIME!

SMU cheerleaders once ventured onto the sacred grounds known as Kyle Field and Aggy kindly helped them find their way back home!

PREDICTIONS!

Aggy completes their defense of the Magnolia League title and takes one more step to winning the SWC w/only the Piggies and fat Bert standing in the way!

A&M - 52
SMU - 10

SMU has scored 16 points combined against Kevin Sumlin's Aggies. That includes 13 vs. the 2013 defense.

If they reach the endzone I will be very upset.

Here were Baylor's defensive line stats against SMU:

Shawn Oakman - 5 tackles, 2.0 TFL (2.0 sacks)
Andrew Billings - 2 tackles, 1.5 TFL
Beau Blackshear - 3 tackles, 1.5 TFL (1.5 sacks)
Jamal Palmer - 5 tackles, 0.5 TFL (0.5 sacks)
K.J. Smith - 3 tackles, 1.0 TFL (1.0 sacks)
Javonte McGee - 2 tackles, 2.0 TFL (1.0 sacks)
Suleiman Masumbuko - 1 tackle, 1.0 TFL (1.0 sacks)

Baylor might have 1-2 quality players, but SEVEN Baylor defensive linemen combined for 21 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks.

"Yay red, yay blue.
Yay ponies. Smew, smew."
-- Don Meredith, a Great American

From Sumlin's press conference it sounds like we have everybody back, minus Speedy and AJ. I think Farmer1906 nailed it and we get an elusive shutout. 70-0 sounds right to me.

If we shut out SMU, it will be our first shut out period in over 10 years (Wyoming 31-0 in 2004) and our first road shut out in 12 years. (Baylor 41-0 in 2002)

SMU already louder, more physical after June Jones

DALLAS — The blaring music mixes with the sound of pads popping as offensive and defensive players go head-to-head on the SMU practice field.

Those are some of the very noticeable changes already for the Mustangs without playing a game since the unexpected resignation of coach June Jones only two games into his seventh season.

“A With no time for wholesale changes, Mason has tabbed two offensive assistants as co-coordinators and brought in a long-time offensive line coach since there is only one junior and no seniors listed for first- and second-team line. Redshirt freshman quarterback Kolney Cassel is making his first start in place of injured Neal Burcham.

That’s really not my personality,” said Mason, who wants to run the ball more. more tempo to practice,” running back Kevin Pope said. “The tempo has picked up a lot, and a bunch of competition between the offense and defense.”

Interim Mustangs coach Tom Mason may not be a big fan of the musical selections — he doesn’t hear any country songs — but he wants players to have a say in what happens while he tries to put his own stamp on the team that was outscored 88-6 in losing its first two games.

“You’ve got to give the players some ownership of the team,” said Mason, also the defensive coordinator. “That’s what they wanted, so we’re going to give it a try. So far, it’s OK. My head hurts.”

There's still a green spray paint spot at Wolf Pen Creek Park on the sidewalk from my buddies and I painting our fish spurs back in '06

We did ours for the tech game, though. Didn't play smu that year.
